Here I am

Anyone know how to break the code?

Thanks, TDR Staff

NV5600 is in!!!

Induction Lock Aluminium Clamps (Huge Picture Sorry)

I'm trying to figure out what kind of transmission I have. I know what I'm SUPPOSED to have in there but I'm not the original owner and have reason to suspect it may not be a 47RE.

I posted in the specific forum for my truck but all I got for an answer was a link to Frit'z page talking about how the codes supossedly break down. The problem is the info posted on Fritz's page does not match neither the codes on my transmission or my neighbor's 2001 transmission codes.

Thanks for any help.

47RE =

4 number of forward gears

7 relative torque rating

R rear wheel (or 4 wheel) drive

E electronic (in this case only the governor) H hydraulic control (mechanical governor)

It HAS to be a 47RE(or H) if it's in a diesel and has 4 speeds. The diesel and V-10 use a SAE bellhousing pattern that NO OTHER Mopar engine uses.

In '99, yes, it WILL be a 47RE. RH's are in earlier trucks. It's also known as a DGP in the options list, and the engine will be an ETC. Hence, ETC/DGP in my signature! ;)

Thanks for the reply. Although I still don't understand how to make heads/tails out of the numbers on my trans (they don't match up with what you provided as a breakdown) I'm happy to hear about the SAE bellhousing pattern. That guarantees me I've got a transmission that was meant for the V-10/CTD. :D :D :D :D

Without going into the gory details I thought there was a chance the A-hole I bought the truck from had something other than the 47RE in there.

I think you may be refering to the "pk" number. It's a long number stamped near the pan rail beginning with the letters 'pk'. I have yet to fing a chart to de-code this though the dealer parts man sometimes needs it to get the right parts, even HE can't de-code this number through his books.
