Anyone know hoy to get the tilt lever off?

Anyone know how to get the tilt lever off?

I'm trying to replace the ignition switch. All I can find in the manual is "Remove the tilt lever" without a clue as to how one might do so.

To remove the tilt lever on the 03 grasp it securely and pull sharply towards the the steering wheel.
