I just got a new laptop at work and I'm real happy with it. Frys Electronics sells 'em. HP pavilion ze5500. 2. 6 g hz, 60 gb disk, 512 gb mem, cd-rw/dvd,15. x screen. We buy 'em with warranties and replace 'em when the warranties expire.

I think IBM Thinkpads are the best... .

I used an A21P (2-3 year old model... )back when I worked/lived in Massachusetts...

I was able to edit full-motion (29. 97fps) video with it... and it played DVD's without breaking a sweat.

Hey dan, I made a laptop costing over 5300 dallors :(. I guess im gonna have to wait for a reall laptop to come out. I really would like a 256 md video cartd in a laptop. That would be insane.

I've got a Toshiba that I like. I don't run games on it though, that's what my desktop is for. I do put a couple of graphics applications to work on it. It is my travel machine.

Dan's right, you can't get one machine that does everything well and expect to keep it forever. You also can't upgrade forever, at some point you have to replace. Laptops die of abuse, heat, old age and non replaceable components long before a desktop the same age. I wouldn't sink my best bucks into a laptop. Laptops are also prone to impact, such as getting dropped...

You do realize that what we consider a laptop used to be a server only a few years ago?
