I don't always have the time, experience, or special tools (and sometimes not the desire) to work on some parts of my truck. For instance, I am soon going to need to replace my injectors and, while I'm pretty sure I can do it myself, if I have a trusted mechanic and the price is right I'd rather have them (i.e., someone who knows what there're doing) do it.

Does anyone have a recommendation for a shop around the Northern Virginia area that specializes in Rams with Cummins engines? Engine expertise is my pressing need right now but it is not the only thing I'd like to use them for.

Where are you located in NoVA? Big area - I use a shop in Lovettsville for most items, great guy, very reasonable. Or another option is a Cummins shop for engine work.

Major motor rebuilds and performance - Antrim Diesel in Greencastle PA is a good choice. They rebore blocks at the Mack engine plant in Hagerstown - they even have their own head plate they had made to bolt on to the block during boring....

Thanks for the reply.

I'm in Oakton, just west of Washington DC. Lovettesville is about an hour away. Greeencastle PA about 2 hours. Hagerstown about 1 1/2 hours.

I called a few Cummins shops nearby but two said they don't work on the Rams with the common rail and the third hemmed and hawed then quoted me a really low price per injector (new) so I think they were thinking it was an older model (plus their labor was double what my dealer's service dept quoted me). I got their names from www.powersystems.cummins.com. There were one or two left on the list that I did not call, one of which was a Ford dealership.

Greencastle is a little bit of a hike for you but there is a great shop at State Line, PA just before greencastle, CV Diesel. I don't have their number in my new phone, but I"d highly recommend them to anybody. I am not sure of their expertise on 3rd gens however. But on my 99 and 01 they have done good work; injection pump, injectors, etc. I always tell this one to everybody- on my 99 I had a reman VP installed that came w a yr warranty. Literally the last week of the warranty my pump went out and I had monitored fuel pressure and did not tap the pump wire. They covered the pump and labor. Not too many places will do that

Badunit,

I had good results also at the Dodge Dealership in Leesburg. Had an 02 with a failed VP44, they did the in tank replacement of the fuel pump and a new injection pump. Picked up the truck and went on vacation the next day. They have done other work on Dodges as well with good results. However as dealerships go they had a couple good diesel techs at the time, those guys move around as we all know..

I always go to B&D Fuel injection service in Stafford, Va for all my diesel stuff. Their address is 45 Baron Park Road Fredericksburg, Va 22405 phone number: 540-368-1626 The owner Randy has always treated me well, I've been dealing with them for over 20 years. He rebuilds Fuel pumps too. They work on my tractors too.
