I am posting on behalf of a friend. I'll try to keep this short. After a faulty thermostat was replaced, the "still under warrenty" truck was taken to the "STEALER"
to get the overheat code cleared. Truck ran perfect when it was dropped off. So, the dealer doesn't have the proper patch/program/whatever to do this and has DC email it to them. They get it and plug into this guys truck and then nothing, won't start. They mess with everything for a while and end up just ordering a new ECM. It arrives and is not programed, don't know about that, but this is the story. Dealer doesn't want to risk trying to program/load it, so they send it back to DC to have it loaded and now, whalaa!!! Truck runs great. Maybe some kind of virus in the dealers computer or something in the attachment from DC, don't know. So, for the duration of this circus my friend, who fishes/dives for a living, has been renting a truck to tow his boat with. In the end the rental was $1200 and the dealer would only reinburse $500. He has called a few people but no one seems to care. This is a classic example of the "Stealer" behavior that earns them such a bad wrap. We are talking about $700 for something that was clearly DC's doing. Just seems pretty petty. They will loose that ten fold on the people who my friend will tell his story too and who will be swayed away from buying Dodge. If anyone knows someone who might be able to look into this for us, it would be much appreciated.
