My batteries are still holding ok on my 2007 but I don't want to risk a failure or one leaking. I know that the Sears Diehard Platinum batteries go on sale for a good discount a few times of the year. Can anyone read their crystal ball and tell me when?

You just have to keep watching the Sears website. The sales on the Platinums never last more than 24 hrs that I have noticed. You can also get discount coupons on the sears website that you may be able to use in conjunction with their sale.

X2 on the last post. They WERE just on sale sometime this month (sorry don't remeber exactly when, but I posted about it on another forum) so it MIGHT be awhile before they are again.

It would likely be best to "bookmark" this link for the Group 65. P2 Diehard Platinum, and then just make a habit of checking every other day--

All that being said, I have definitely noticed that they tend to go on sale during long weekend type, national holidays, but ONLY for 24 to 48 hours maximum, so you do have to be quick on the draw.

Chris, it MIGHT just be your lucky day... I just edited my last post to insert the P@ link that I had left out, and the link shows the batteries for $206 each, plus someother offers good for $60 off if you spend $400 at Sears Auto, so that sounds like $176 each, which isn't bad, tough I have seen them for as low as $154 each. Of ocurse, it is ALSO possible that might browser is loading a cached page from their last sale, so I might be wrong.

Check out hte link and see what kind of offers you can combine... maybe get some more money back if you apply for a Sears credit card.

Sears has pretty awesome Military and LEO discounts, if you are eligable. I got mine for about $160/ea without them being on sale.

Good to know. I have an elder friend of mine that still has a Military ID. He loves to use that for me to get a discount. He is like my dad, Korea vet and retired Air Force Colonel. 81 YRS OLD.

I saw the price that expired yesterday. I am waiting for the lowest price of the year. I think that comes this fall. I routinely load test each battery in my truck. I have rotated them from left to right. What Optima fits? I have had good luck with those and I have a jobber about 50 miles away that I can use my resale with. Comparing the both, which is a better battery?

Optimas require an adapter for our trucks. Optimas have also had a big drop in quality and reliability in recent years. I went with P2's for the fitment and QC issues.

AFAIK, they are made by Deka. Excellent stuff.

Though Deka DOES make excellent batteries, and they would easily be my first battery choice for any application OTHER then my truck, the Sears Diehard Platinum batteries are a rebranded version of the Odyssey Battery made by EnerSys.

The Oddyssey and Platinums are an AGM battery made by one of the best battery comapnies in the world, from 99. 9% virgin lead that offers 930 CCA, as well as 135 hours of reserve capacity. Throw TWO of these puppies in your truck, and you are most likely NOT getting stuck from a dead battery anywhere for a long time. And in just in case one DOES go bad, they offer a 4 year free replacemnt warranty with an additonal 4 years prorate warranty (that's a total of 8 years). It will liekly last longer then that. Sorry if I sound like a Sears or EnerSys rep, but I am not, just know an excellent product when I see/research it. The Oddyssey P2 sells for about $329 each, while the Diehard Platinum P2 retails for $229 each, but goes on sale for as low as $154 each from Sears, as long as you catch it at the right time and combine offers. Here is the link again, it is actually still on sale with multiple discounts if you can combine them.

In short, they are one of the best batteries for our trucks, certainly when bought at a discount.

They are made by Odyssey Battery, and are essentially a relabeled 65-PC1750. I say essentially because Odyssey said they were that battery, but the specs are slightly different.

EDIT: What seafish said... .
