Whats wrong with a regular keyed lock?

I don't want to have to pull my keys out of the truck to unlock the cap, and then put 'em back in. Also, if the wife or my Dad/Mom borrow my truck I always have to make sure that they have the key to unlock the fuel cap in case they have to get fuel. I've had both styles, and a combination lock is the ONLY way to go.

Now, if I could just find one for my truck

You can get the (keyed) locking fuel cap from any Mopar dealer. I have one on my ’03, but not sure I would do it again. The locking cap isn’t made to accept the tether, so there is the possibility of misplacing it or dropping it in the mud while you are fueling. The cap collects dust as you drive down the road, and is especially noticeable with winter’s muddy slush on the roads. It doesn’t matter with the regular cap and both caps keep the dirt out of the tank. I had trouble with the dirt getting into the lock mechanism and needing to be cleaned out. I cut the bottom inch off a plastic bottle and place that over the fuel cap before closing the fuel filler door and that has solved the problem for me.

I think I would rather someone siphon me empty than find the body gouged from a prybar getting a locking cap off or punching a hole in the tank.

I think my main concern is that someone might put something in the tank that would wreck the engine/fuel system. I have 125 gallons sitting in the driveway and at $2. 479 a gallon that enters into the thinking also. I have to get a bank loan now to fill up. By the way, thanks for all the replies. :) bg

My thought was someone thinking it would be funny to dump a little red food coloring in there. I doubt the authorities would care why your fuel was red. When I fuel up I toss the cap on the drivers seat. Makes it hard to miss that way.

Dont waste your time with those junky @$$ caps. . They ALL suck... I have tried 2 then went the way I should of the 1st time around and got the billet locking gas DOOR. It looks great, You keep your factory cap and teather, and dont have to worry about funny business. The gas caps are cheapo plastic and so it the filler neck.

Get the replacement door instead... Its a bet pricy from genos or if you want the all black one, all auto or something but hey, $100. . What the heck.
