2nd Gen Non-Engine/Transmission Anyone mount their CB in the roof?

Was wondering if anyone here has done this, and what it took to do. I looked at those mounts in Geno's, but I think the radio would get kicked around by someone sitting in the center. I've thought about building one of those fancy wood overhead consoles, but haven't decided. Rado is a Cobra 29 Limited Edition radio with Nightwatch.

Mine has been up there since '01. Hasn't always been the same radio but it works good for me and it out of the way.

and put the cb in that

I like how the cb is mounted sideways and can still see the compass and temp. How did you mount that? Is the roof double steel? Did you have to take the headliner down?

Are you referring to mine? If so, I just screwed it to the roof structure with short screws. There is a support rib that runs front to back in the middle there. I didn't have to take the head liner down. I like it sideways because I can easily see the radio face while driving this way.

I think it looks good but - Many years ago, I had one of those big ol' metal body radar dectors up on the roof of a car I was driving. Ended up getting hit and was't wearing a seat belt causing me to hit my head on that thing... Needless to say I swear I still have a headache from that episode. I mounted my CB in the dash in place of the ash tray on my 96 - now I'll probably put my knee through it instead of my head

not if you get the shelves made buy dee zee they are very very shallow i dont think even a very small cb would go in them
