Vax is a older type of vacuum cleaner. (kind of has a cult following)

Not me :)

I use the VAX to clean the pellet stove. Vax is no longer sold in the USA that I can tell.

I need to find a source for the special vacuum bag.

Thanks,

I don't own one, but in school, I programmed in assembly language on a VAX 11-780.

That wasn't just 'assembly language'. VAX-11 Macro was a high-level language in many respects. As easy as it was to program Macro-10 and -20, VAX-11 Macro was even easier!

Shucks... ... thought I had a chance to make a sale.

I have 4 VAX 7840's with a Terabyte of StorageWorks disks, TA90 tape drives, and a bunch more goodies for sale.

Just replaced all the old VAX gear with new Alphas and a SAN.

I found programming the VAX in assembler to be pretty close to the intel x86 as far as the instruction set goes. VAX VMS provides a lot of high level support for assembler. Haven't done that for almost 15 years now.

Nerds Unite!

I worked for Digital for 7 years, starting in 1985. My wife still does (OK, compaq bought 'em, and hp might buy them, but same cube!). Did the pdp 11/70 and VAx thing in school prior to that as well. Too bad they couldn't market a thing, shunned the pc market (Ken Olsen, CEO, back in the mid 1980's "No one will ever want a computer in their house")

Amazing the diverse crowd here, makes the site quite worthwile.

from a bonafide computer nerd

I HAD to use a vax in college for a COBOL class. hated it. no mouse and the editor sucked!!

I could ftp the results back from a compile change the file and resend it to the vax b4 i could change 2 lines in the editor.

Thank god for technology!!!!
