Anyone Own an Alpenlite 5'ver???

Mom and dad just ordered a Alpenlite Hillcrest... ... checked it ot online, lloks like a very nice trailer. Wondering if any of you have had the pleasure to own or know someone who has had one of these units?

One belonging to a friend of mine is sitting out in my driveway as this is written - it's a dual-slide, anniversary model, 33 footer - sold new in about '96... He loves it, seems to be of excellent build quality - he lives in it about 6 months per year, lives in a resort park in Arizone during winter months...

Alpenlites

I am pulling my 2nd Alpenlite. When I decided to upgrade to one with a slideout I was so happy with my old (10 yrs) Alpenlite that I did not even consider any other brand. Regardless of price, I don't think there is a better value out there. I can name you 25 or more very happy Alpenlite owners--some with their 3rd or 4th unit. As a side note: I hope these folks have a REAl TRUCK (read: Dodge) because there is nothing light about an Alpenlite!!

Alpenlite Campers

I've been looking at Alpenlite Campers- it seems they have aluminum frames instead of wood - looking at the 11-11. 5 / Anyone have any experience with the Campers?

I own a 29' Spyglass and find it hard to believe that this is considered "top of the line". The number of things that I have discovered wrong with this unit since buying it amaze me. Apparently mirrored windows are considered by the manufacturer to be "the same as thermal windows", or "this unit is great for use in a WI winter" - what a crock! Not to mention the sloppiness in the finish work (sealing the area around through-wall penetrations, interior trim work, stripped door catch screws, peeling wallpaper, window trim placed off center, crappy work on the tank enclosure).



Next time I'll know what to look at more closely.

I own a 1997 29 ft single slide Dreamer, which was the lower cost version of the Alpenlite (they no longer make the lower cost nameplate). I am satisifed with the unit and manufacturer. The only maintenance items in 6 years have been 1) replacing the Goodyear Wrangler tires with Michelin XPS Ribs (steel cord sidewalls), 2) replacing the Dexter axle spring nylon bushings and hangers with greasable bronze bushings, and 3) regluing a 4-5 foof diameter bubble where the rubber roof separated from the plywood.



The Rubber roof repair was this weekend, took about 6 hours, hope to get the 10 plus years advertised for rubber roofs.



If I was upgrading to the double slide 29 ft that the wife wants, I would get an Alpenlite.

Have a 2001 Alpenlite 36 Stonecreek RL

Its a 37' 3 slide unit, made to live on. Has most options and has been a sound unit so far.



Quality as far as I can tell.



Oh, and it not "light"(lite) by any stretch of the imagination... . It weights every bit of the 15,000 they say it is.

Bug Eye is correct!! When Barry asked to show my trailer to a couple at Kerrville at last year's Turbo Diesel Rally, one of the first comments he made was--Look at the 8 lug bolts, the 16 " wheels, the thickness of the compartment doors, etc, etc. He then said "There is nothing light about an Alpenlite. " Coming from a dealer I considered it praise. :

My Ford-lovin' bud with his blown transmission would agree on the "nothing light" bit - but I'm not sure about the "praise" part...



Be sure you have enough TRUCK to tow yer load...

We bought a new '01 last Nov. It's a 32' Augusta RL. We spent last winter,spring putting 13k miles on it. Wouldn't sacrifice the comfort to go to something else.

I have a 2002 32' Augusta fully loaded and I love it.



Unfortunatly I am going to sell it because we just bought a new buisness.

I am also considering selling my truck as well, but I have so much money into it I don't want to take a beating.

I would recomend Alpenlite to anyone.

Jason, we bought an Alpenlite Hillcrest 32RK in March 2002. Took it directly to OBX an spent 7 weeks in it. No problems. When we were preparing for our fall trip, we found the LPG regulator had failed. Dealer(Camp-A-Rama in Chesapeake,Va. ) said that they had several failures of this regulator and to bring it by for replacement. No other problems. We pull it with a 1996 4x4 DRW CTD W/auto. Gross wgt. 20160#. 2003 w/6spd on order. Hope your folks like their unit. God Bless. Jesse

Just bought an Alpenlite 30 rk, So far, love the trailer. Yes we have a few small issues that need to be worked out by the dealer, but i have never heard of anyone buying an rv that didn't. I think the overall quality is much higher than most others on the market. My father in law has a 34 rl alfa, and i will NEVER buy an alfa product. they have had numerous problems and the dealer has been less than helpfull.

Just a note on our Alpenlite slide-in camper. I bought a used 1998 last Feb and have put about 10k on it since then. It is an aluminum frame and fit and finish is excellent. Everything on this camper works perfectly right down to the generator. We liked it so much we sold our 2001 30' 5th wheel because we never use it any more.
