96 Suburban Conversion

1969-71 Dodge pu Cummins Swap

I have a chance to pick up a 24valve out of a 04 dodge 3500 for pretty cheap and possibly installing it in my older pickup, and was wondering if anyone here has succeeded in doing this. My truck is a 95 2500 dodge with a 12 valve and it bugs me because I cant get a electric tuner for it. Any input or suggestions would be apprieciated thanks

Sorry, no i actually have full access to a rolled over 04 dodge, so rewiring everything would be simple. But that plan already fell through, so i wont be doing the conversion, maybe another day

What kind of a weirdo would want all that electronic bullcrap?!? Stick with mechanical when that 07 ULSD comes out you will be glad you dont have an effing POS VP-44... . What a joke of an injection pump that is!!

Typical 12valve guy... He was talking about a CP-3

I would prefer you not bash my injection pump. You have probably hurt her feelings... When she don't start im trackin you down!!!! :-laf

CP3, VP-44, same crap different day. I owned an electronic 23 valve and I thought it was the best thing since sliced bread untill I realized what a headache electronics are and I have since sold that over complicated piece of crap and now have an all mechanical fuel system and I will never look back. You want power go electronic..... You want reliablity go Mechanical.

The way emissions testing is going these days ill stick to my electronics with the smarty that has the capability of half power mode without having to tear into my engine or injection pump.

You my friend are the "ignorant" one. . 23 valve huh... . s-m-a-r-t... probably still make coffee on the campfire in your back yard and walk both ways up hill to work.

 I wouldn't say that Jim Fulmer's truck is low on power. All mechanical. 800hp and counting.

Now, if you'd say if you want quick power adustment on the fly, I'd agree with you.

Wow, 12v'ers bashing 24v'ers and 24v'ers bashing 12v'ers... Come on you peeps, we all drive a CTD powered vehicle. lets get along!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

If the guy wanted to go to a 24v CP3 powered engine, so what, who cares! He wanted to get a newer engine with newer options, more power to him! Personally, I would look at doing the same if I came across a deal like that. And then use the 12v engine in a "project" vehicle.

So, all you 12v hates, sit down and shut up, all you 24v haters, sit down and shut up, and lets all enjoy our wonderful CTD powered trucks! :p

I'll jump into this heated debate with a new angle... I hate 5. 9 cummins engines. They're weak and small. I wouldn't have one (or 3) if I didn't have to. :-laf :-{} :D
