Engine/Transmission (1998.5 - 2002) anyone raced a charger?

are they beatable with our 7000+ lb rigs? A buddy of mine just got one and he thinks its the best thing on 4 wheels. I would love to give him a run for his money with a big loud cummins. I know he would smoke me right now, but What would it take? Is it possible? i'm not saying i'm going to go out and spend thousands of dollars just to rub it in his face, but it sure would be fun.

I walked the dog on a guy I work with who has a 2007 Hemi Charger. He had taken a ride inmy truck and knew he would get beat but we did it anyway. Get some Mach 4's SPS62, billet transmission, SMARTY and TST shouldnt be a problem.

No problem at all... . just do as mentioned. A big Super 62 turbo, 100-150hp sticks, Con FE or equal clutch & Edge drag comp or Tst stacked on smarty... . you will dust him.

also depends on which "HEMI" Your talking about. the 5. 7 is a terd. You line up against one of the new 6. 1's and you might have your hands full.

I wouldn't exactly call the 5. 7 hemi a turd... . my mom has a 300c and it will brake them loose from the line. Brake torquing it I did a burn out from telephone pole to telephone pole thats 150 ft or so... did another one( diff time), so much smoke it came in through the trunk and inside the car. I know for a fact that it will get up to 127 mph, the gov kicks in then and it is only turning around 2400 rpm so it has more potential. I would say it is a pretty decent car for the price. Now the SRT-8 with the 6. 1:-laf . Thats a whole different animal, I can't wait for the challenger!

But yes in a nut shell with the things mentioned above you should be able to take one, not sure on the 6. 1 though never seen anyone who has one actually drive it. Kind of like those with corvettes, at least here where I live anyways.

I smoked 2 diferent ram 1500's in the 1/4 with my 6 speed. They both beat me off the line but I muscled past them once I got in 4th.

I ney a guy last year at the Mopar Nats that was running an SRT-10 Viper Truck. His wife had one of the 6. 1 Chargers. He said she eat him alive everytime they ran. Randy

With a blower from GS motorsports they are doing 11. 8 1/4's. With a lmtd slip and modified torque management system it doesn't get out of shape it just gets Oo.

I didn't know they were all that... . haven't kept up on the new chargers. I have got to try one now... . just to see!

These guys are serious,in testing they have blown the 6. 1 motors. They brought me a twisted,not broken rod to show me. They make a very fast street ride,that is very easy to drive.

Throw our little 5. 9 litre cummins in a 2500 pound car and see what happens. I raced a guy a the track with 300c chipped up and cold air intake,14. sec qaurter :-laf is all he had.

We just got a couple of charger patrol cars at work. City only popped for the 6 cylinder engine. They are as quick as our 03/04 crown vics with the 4. 6L V-8's Once they hit second gear they go pretty good. I think you would be really hard pressed to get a Cummins to keep up with one of the Hemi ones, they are pretty scary quick from what I hear.

What are the 6. 1's running in the quarter stock out the box? I'm sure they can't beat a S2000 Honda... . I'm side by side with my buddy's S2000 until 100mph... then he slowly pulls ahead. He has exhaust, air box & gadgets. Also remember that these are pickup trucks weighing over 7500lbs. You might not beat him, but you will get his respect... . thats all that matters. I never cared about anything more because I didn't buy my truck to race..... just to haul equipment & get a long life, but how is a guy gonna brag if he did beat you? Hey guys I just beat a 8000lb truck with 100 gallon fuel tank in the bed & loaded with tools!

If you really wanna race one and win handily, find one with a big ol Enterprise rental sticker on the back... they have a tiny little 2. 7L V-6 in them... gutless wonder.

I read that some one (after market company like roush or saleen) suped up one of those in a car a driver type magazine... . put a turbo on it made around 600 hp I think. Can you say fun?
