Heavy Duty Diesel Shootout

They have a great mag this month with Diesel trucks being the them. There is several articles on diesel performance. A shootout with the top 3 2500 series diesel trucks. And even a article of the new power Wagon soon to be released.

be wary

didn't read that magazine and article, but i did read this month's truck trends. total shenanigans!!! they tested a dodge and ford diesel srw one tons. the ford was two wheel drive and auto. the dodge was a stick and four wheel drive.

as you might guess, the ford was faster in every category because of its configuration. what a let down.

Well in their Diesel showdown they test Chevy, Ford and Dodge all 3/4 tons with autos and 4x4. The dodge lead in braking both with and without load, and also won the 0-60 speed test without a load. Other then that the Ford (which was a special HD addition) took most all the other categories. Chevy got the best ride vote for long runs. They also actually said the Dodge was the worst towing truck, it felt not at home while towing on the road. With a trailer attached it was twitchy and hard to steer. I am not surprised the ford won the speed test with a load, but surprised it did not win when empty?

Thats great!!!

The other camps have been playing catch up for a long time

When the "dirty little secret" gets out our trucks will go up high$$$$ and I like owning a sleeper

What is a shame is that DC is trying to follow ford and gm in style and design instead of going with the "form follows function".

I disagree that Dodge is following Ford or GM in styling. Dodge came out with the big rig drop fender design for MY '94 and was copied by Ford in '99. I think Dodge has done a good job of styling and keeping the functionality adequate. The problem is that more people care about what the thing looks like than how it operates, sad but true. You can't blame a company for designing a product that more people want than fewer.

That was then, they set the pick-up world on end.

They need to break out and do it again.

They need to think out of the box the box is in!!

Example: the new Power Wagon with CTD, in a short bed!!!!

Diesels have been getting a lot better coverage in mags latly. Look at the current issue of Sport Truck, on page 25(i think), or the newest issue of 5. 0 Mustang on page 85 i think.

There's much more to come for diesels getting full features also. :)
