Anyone recommend AAMCO?

Hi all,



Due to the lack of any diesel repair shops in my area, i'm forced to locate other shops. As far as transmission work is concerned, can anyone recommend AAMCO for transmission service work? I'm gonna buy the parts somewhere else, probably Goerend or ATS, but have AAMCO due the work. I assume since they are a national level shop, they would be good, but not sure how much diesel experience they would have.

Call Georend's. I guarantee they have someone they recommend in your area.

Yeah that's what i thought. The closet shop that does Goerends work is 4-5 hours away in Maryland.

I don't think any of us have the skills neccessary to work on the transmission. I'm talking to TNT-DIESEL over in Maryland now, though they are a little far away.

AAMCO=ALL Automatics Must Come Out. They are the wall mart of transmissions and will only put garbage in your trans. Take your transmission out and ship it to Goerend.

That may be an option, but i can only imagine the cost of doing that though. Shipping cost would be pretty high.

Can you take the truck there and drop it off?

Is there any way you can remove the transmission, at home, and deliver the transmission to your top end repair shop and pick it up when it is finished, install it at home?

Just a little brainstorming, here!

There is always a way. Just not always easy and convenient!

Even when repair shops are handy, they are not always the best options!

I've actually located a company that is only 3. 5 hours away from me, TNT-DIESEL over in maryland, that can handle the job. They also do Goerend work. Looking at around August to have the work done.
