Engine/Transmission (1994 - 1998) Anyone Remove there heat exchanger?

I need to bypass my heat exchanger ASAP one of the metal lines is spraying coolant and leaking it all out. #@$%! Has anyone done this? I have already redone all my transmission lines with hydraulic hose, so the exchanger is just a waste of space. .

Well this is definetly a problem now... I touched the metal line and it completely fell apart where it was leaking and just ****** all the coolant out! :-laf

CZ, it's been done, and I've seen instructions for it with pics here somewhere. I just did a search and came up empty. If I had more time I could probably find it but I have to leave. It involved an allen head pipe plug to replace one of the fittings and re-re-routing a hose if I remember correctly. Seems like the plug went inside something, under a hose.



I may try to tackle it this spring when I move my batteries and change my exhaust housing.

I'm sure someone has done it, I see you need to remove it for a twin turbo setup. Does anyone know what size hose the rubber elbows are?

Thanks!! So a 3/8" allen fits in there! Right now I've got a piece of 5/8 hose running from port to port.

I have been looking at twin turbo's and was wondering if I would have to remove it? I just put a new DTT transmission in for all the heavy towing I do and don't want to hurt the transmission. Should I relocate it or up grade to an aftermarket one?
