I finally managed to bump my mirror yesterday and the glass shattered. (The opposing Superduty was unscathed)

The dealer said I need to replace the whole thing for 350 ish. I know I can have the glass replaced at a local shop, but it would not have the original curve.

Anyone know if/ where I can get just the Mirror surface rplaced?

If I need to replace the whole thing, I may look at some other aftermarket ones, as I have never been really happy with how these ones work for backing up and parking. They're great for looking befhind you, but I have to choose between the way behind or sown low, I cant find a setting that works for everything.

Binswanger Glass advertises that they can replace factory mirror glass (flat or convex). I'd check with them before making any decisions.

You should be able to buy/replace the glass only. I had my glass out of both sides when I though about swapping them (to get the "bubble" to my liking). (BTW, I have pictures of the glass & clips, if you're interested). I'm sure my dealership had the replacement glass "only" when I was screwing around (I checked because I considered buying new, to make modifications). I'd try another dealership.

I slapped mirrors with a SD on county road bridge but he got the worst of it. Broke my big and small mirror as did his but his mirror pivoted back hard enough to break his drivers side window.

As ARTIE suggested I used BURCOINC. COM and replaced them myself... ..... JIM

I broke the glass out of passenger side towing mirror on our previous '00 3500. The local Binswanger glass shop had the replacement in stock. They installed the new one in about 15 minutes, for less than $30.

Thanks for all the replies, I certainly won't let the "*******" take me for $350.

Scrappy: thanks it is my passenger side, but it sounds like you should keep your full mirror, as I will just replace my glass.

mirror

Yes , I have the full mirror but it is the one that I damaged while plowing (glass is undamaged) and got totally replaced by the ins. co. the arm cover is the only broken part but HAD to replace the whole thing. It is also been dissassembled already by me (testing a theory).
