I ran mine this way without a muffler, I didn't have any real issue with soot since I had it turned down, but the drone in the cab was too much for me. I ended up running mine up through the bed like a stack. Now it sounds great and the noise level in the cab is tolerable.

it's gonna cover the underside and back of your truck w/ soot

It will? I ran mine this way for 100k and never had as much soot as when I had an actual tailpipe.

you must not be putting out much smoke then... ever crawl under there and run your hand over stuff? :)

my buddy's truck has an open downpipe after his twins, and his tailgate is black, and the rear end they pulled out of it was COVERED in soot

Umm, it was a completely stock truck... smoking is sorta stupid IMO... and then they wounder why our trucks are getting emissions and fuels/oils are getting modified... :-laf

And yes I was underthere... but there was more a mess from my oil undercoating and no way to tell if it was soot or dirty oil...

sounds boring... if you're making good power, you're going to have SOME smoke!!! even a bone stock truck will soot up the 1/4 panel... yours just got spread out over the entire underside of the truck, so it wasn't as concentrated

yep, when mine was still pretty stock i had a burned up exhaust manifold gasket on #1 and just that little bit sooted up the bhaf and around under the hood

It ain't the smoke thats slapping our trucks with emissions and new fuel regulation... it's the import and high end sedan owners who are tired of us 1st. beating them and 2nd. blowing smoke all over the interior of their convertible. ;)

It's all a conspiracy... :-laf

way more drone dumped than with it exiting out the side, just put a stack on it :)
I would, but my truck came with an expensive hard shell tonnoue cover. It's the type that rolls up like a window blind. It rolls up right where the stacks would go. :(
