I've had the Airaid on mine since about 500 miles. Now have 15K on the truck with no problems. I have had it off a couple of times just to check for fine dust in the intake tube. Still clean enough to eat off of. I do some driving in slight dusty conditions but mostly highway miles. I can hear the turbo more with the Airaid on (which should happen with any open air filter system) but, I like the way it sounds. Not too noisy... just hear a little more whine. Overall, I would say it is quality equipment and probably comparable to the AFE system. I researched both before I purchased. I went with the Airaid because I did not have to order it. Picked up locally.

Hope this helps,

Chip

I had an Airaid and switched to a aFe Pro guard 7 cold air kit for better filtration. I liked airaids air box better. Check my truck pics for pictures of both.

Filter Test Data

AIRAID®'s "4 +1" filter construction out-performs the others in clean air testing. Our competitors' airflow gains come at the expense of inferior filtration. AirAid® provides the optimum balance between maximum airflow and maximum filtration by utilizing 5 layers. The Fifth and "last layer of defense" is a synthetic media assuring the cleanest air possible from any washable filter.

We test to SAE standard J726, the method for testing fractional efficiency of a filter. We could say that we capture 99. 997 percent of particles of 10 microns and larger, most air filters, capture the full range of particulates, even down to 2 microns. Our filters are so efficient that we test all the way down to 0. 3 microns. At 2 microns, our filters capture almost twice the percentage of particulates that our competitors do, and more than 6 times the amount at 0. 5 microns.

2003 Dodge Cummins Diesel 5. 9L

Description:

Designed to work with either the original air box or the new 300-128, AirAid’s 300-928 Modular Intake Tube (M. I. T. ) for the 2003 Dodge Ram Cummins Diesel will wake up even the tamest of engines. This is possible because the M. I. T. flows 20% more air than the factory unit. The M. I. T. is constructed of cross-linked high-density polyethylene for strength and durability. All M. I. T. kits come complete with all the mounting hardware needed. Like the AIRAID Intake Systems, they bolt right on in minutes with simple hand tools.

I like my Airaid

:) Have an Air Raid since 500 hundred miles, now I have 38,000. Never had any problems with it.

Even went and placed the factory box back in to see if there is a difference. (left in the Edge-EZ). Different as night and day.

The only problem I have is in wet, rainy weather the filter gets wet (from the intake in the factory box). But since the filtration media is oil wet it doesn't hurt anything, still it raises some questions.

So does anybody have a solution? (other than the new 2004 (Viper) Ram R/T hood?

I have had the Air Raid filter on my truck since new, I have 15000 miles no problem, Air Raid has the outer wear for them now. well worth the 2500 dollars it cost. It helps keep it cleaner and it helps keep the water off. I also have the AFE torque tube onto. GREAT COMBO. WILDMAN

obie1,

Is the water coming in from the fender inlet due to the increased airflow or is it coming from the opening facing the grill/radiator area?

Coming in from the fender. Don't know if it is due to the increased airflow since it did this with the factory box. (we have had lots of rain the last two weeks in this area). So I'm thinking its more a design flaw from DC.

I I understand correctly the 02's and older had cowl air placement is that right? If so DC should of stayed with it.

Seen other posts were other owners have "snow" and ice problems from the fender.

Thanks for the heads up for the cover on the air raid but does it really cost 2500 or 25. 00?

Love this site... and forum. ;)

Thanks for all the input gentlemen. Looks like I'll be adding this to the mod list. Now, if I could just decide on a fuel box and injectors...

A friend of mine has a 2003 HO 48RE 3500 6x6. He's been reading these posts and wanted me to ask if there was any "seat of the pants" increase in performance or is it just a cosmetic change and more sound from the intake (turbo spool-up).

I basically told him to get an Edge EZ and an airbox mod such as the AirAid system and be happy with it. He's ridden in my truck and wants to start bombing his. :D Oh and gauges of course.

Now we gotta get him to join up so he can post and get the awesome TDR magazine in the mail! C'mon Larry, you can afford it dude! :p

Here's Larry's Ram.
