Just curious, why would you buy a cam that is dyno proven to have less HP by a considerable amount than several others, and has proven itself to lose1/4 time in Gregs ride.

By "several others" which other cams are you talking about. And how much hp gain or lost by which one. and who did the testing. NOT try ing to start a fuss... JUST WONDERING...

I myself am running a Haisley Street puller cam and I noticed a considerable gain in spool up and drop in egts 100-150* @ wot

Nope, Jimmy is busy flying..... tempo is high..... note the post time!

The cam deal, even small changes are down a little on the list but dang if I'm going to pull it out, why not try a new one.

Well... . I've been runnning searches on this site for info on cams and the only two I've gotten any real info on are Piers and Helix. I made some calls, talked to who would talk to me. I saw this thread and nobody had made any negative statements about this cam... I just figured it was fairly new and unproven-somebody's got to try this stuff first. I really have yet to see any charts or good comparisons through all of my searching and I don't have all of the background knowledge that some of you guys do on this stuff yet. I do know a reputable diesel shop up in PA about 2-3 hrs from me who sells Helix cams and has a dyno. Maybe I can dyno my truck and post some results on Greg's cam.

Two questions: What did you mean by "lose 1/4 time"? and who are some other cam manufacturers you would recommend?

The problem is, that dyno numbers don't tell the whole story. If you dyno your truck with the 3 cam you noted, then you can make a decision based on your truck.

Most of these guys don't want to let you in on the entire setup, so try to get comparitive numbers. Also, if you plan on racing or sled pulling, you needs may be different then the sample dyno truck numbers. Not to mention that sometimes things work different on the track than on the stationary chassis dyno.

Dave

Sledpuller Im sure youve read mine and the other guys posts are you going to post some #s and results or are you going to cower down after barking...

Been busy, Jr.

COMP has posted his own numbers.

When he posted over the winter his FLYWHEEL HP numbers, then a few days later, several legitimate Diesel drag racers posted theres at the WHEEL, any gasser trash V-8 rev-gain technology he is using for his engine program has got to be flawed. Look at his time slips, nice. :-laf

Like I been telling him all along, this is a 6 cylinder Diesel, not a small block Chevy.

How can people who do worse when they build a new engine, still sell you guys parts????????

Oh, and about half a dozen DHRA Mod pulling trucks are not using COMPs cam, and have at least 2  more HP than he does. And the Super Street class. And at least 2 in the Street class. :-laf

Sooo... are you guys saying when I get this cam back that it's going to make LESS power than the stocker? Or just a little less than some of the other competition/high performance cams?

Your fine, don't sweat the internet cheerleaders.

Jim

If your cam was the same as COMPS original, the evidence suggests YES, less power.

I think I'd be talking to keating about the cam he runs. hes the truck to beat at the moment.

Hey Fulmer, about you go do something with your truck and let us know how it runs?

I think many forget camshafts that work in one application may not work in another. Part of making big HP is creating the "package" to make big HP. It is less and less about what parts you run, but whether those parts create the "package".

Yes, I can prove with dyno and track results 4 camshafts that can cost you HP IF you are running a Garmon package. But this camshaft added power in someone else's "package". So do these cams work or not? ;)

Why thank you David, for making my point exactly.

Now there is only one question yet to be asked on this thread.

Has Racin Duallies, duallie, ever raced, or, is he just another internet cheerleader?

It's going back together slowly right new because of work. This has not been my best year, broke allot of parts trying new stuff and you know... ... spent all my money. I have all the full boogie parts but I'm going to take my time in the rebuilt over turning every stone.

One the cams I'm going to pull mine out eventually and try one more thing. So I made the statement if someone really wanted to know how it compares buy it and send it to me.

RacinDuallie's - duallie has a nice thick bundle of timeslips from the tracks Duallie's -duallie has raced, located in the flip up mirror in the sunvisor, on the drivers side, stop by, knock on garage door and I'll show em to ya, you'll see that there are many Friday nite street races attended, followed by Saturday Points Meet upsets I've also attended, piloting the duallie, as well as Sunday test and tune matches... ... I've had full weekends of racing in that duallie, starting on friday nites and endin on sunday evenings. Oo. Ran her at the diesel nats in Raceway Park..... Not to mention the countless street battles I've had the pleasure in partaking in:rolleyes:  Best time was 12. 9 @ 105mph, on fuel only -stock internals, small single (by todays standards:) ) ,nothing serious or fancy involved, no additives or fillers on 6 -Truxxus Mudders no less. ;) The new build HAS MANY enhanced internals;) including pistons, rods, cam, and cylinder head development, along with some fillers and additives. :p ( couple of fun buttons for you slow fellers like Sled Puller) The new build should put Duallie's -duallie solidly in the 11's... . which aint too shabby @ 8000+ lbs. :p

Duallie's - duallie is not Duallie's racer no more, Duallie's -duallie is now a street war horse. Duallie has faster projects in the works :D -That Duallie owns hisself, and is not owned by a sugar daddy... Duallie is Duallie's own sugar daddy:cool: .
