I'm looking to replace the too timid, too quiet stock muffler with a MBRP MK96116 replacement. I thought about the ME from GENO's but I tow really heavy and I'm afraid that the roar on the highway for 7 hrs will be too much to take. Any thoughts?

The truck's basically bone stock except for the silencer vane surgery.

I had a Mbrp replacement muffler on my truck for over a year. I had no kitty also. I will say around town and with no load the sound was fine and sounds very healthy.

With my 30' Enclosed trailer and all the car and gear it was annoying on the highway in tow. I do have 410's and at 70mph and 2100rpm there is a constant drone/growl that for me became old.

I just replaced my stock piping and Mbrp muffler with a 4" Turbo back SilverLine system and a 4" 18" Long Resonator from Rip and I love it! You can hear turbo noise out of the tailpipe and there is a growl when stepping on it but very quiet when cruising.

To Each Their Own :-laf

The 4" SilverLine was $315 shipped to my door, comes with welded hangers and band clamps.

The Resonator I sourced from Rip Rook and was around 80 dollars.

I straight piped my 05 but kept the cat and found the sound to be mellow at cruising/hi-way speeds. It seems to me that more people complain about drone when adding aftermarket mufflers. I had no drone with the straight pipe. cost me $80 to have a piece of pipe welded in at my local muffler shop, will be doing the same to my new 07 soon.

FWIW, I replaced the stock muffler with a MBRP and am pleased with it.

On mine, the "drone" isnt there and it has the same sound in the cab as the stock one has.

I am very happy with mine. Little difference when light on the go pedal, buy you know it's there when giving it some fuel. It definately is not obnoxious and I don't have any drone, and I pull some long hills here in Co. I personally think it sounds great when I give it some throttle.

I've had one for 2 years and it's awesome. I do get a slight drone at about 60 mph but then it goes away even with a load.

I would like to know if those of you that have posted and have no drone still have your cats in place? If I left my cat on with the muffler I too think it would have been just fine and no drone.

I have the cat still in place and no drone. A friend tried it without the cat and he had a drone so he put the cat back on.

MRBP MK96116 replacement muffler

I've got an 04. 5 and had the Geno's muffler eliminator pipe with the cat in place. No drone while towing and the sound was pretty nice. The cat was removed and replaced with a "test pipe" so the the exhaust was 4" straight through. The sound was very obnoxious and forget about in cab drone. . awful in my opinion. I replaced the muffler eliminator pipe with the MRBP MK96116 replacement muffler and I must say that I am VERY Happy! Not too obnoxious and my wife stopped complaining... I don't notice any drone when towing and the truck just sounds GOOD! I say go with the MRBP! Easy install with band clamps, throw those C-clamps away! The old muffler is a pain in the butt to get off if you don't have a sawzall or torch. My 2 cents... Good luck!

Thanks for all the great feedback. I ordered the part last night from DPP! I am looking forward to carving out the old and replacing it with a little more THUNDER!:-laf
