My understanding on lockrites are they are only as strong as the carrier they are in. The one I have is real good to me in the front. But like you I put a detroit in the rear.

The gov lock in the front, why not try it and let me know. Is that like what chivvy used. When power is applyed it locks up until about 35 mph, then it won't lock up? My buddy was commenting that the truck wandered alot with a ls up front, and took alot of steering when locked in 4X4 on icy/snowy streets. The detroit took less steering. I kinda wonder if the ls was allowing slipping or maybe on uneven icy patchs was not putting power to both wheels. I know some of the 3rd gen guys are having fits with the torque sensing ls. Maybe that was what his ls was doing up front. The locker on the other hand did not care. When power was applyed both axels were getting equal power.

i have a 93 and running a detroit locker in the back with dual wheels. I love the grip it makes, but if going around turns to fast it spins the rear end around quiet nicely. :p " sort of a import, drifting kind of feel" but if you are wanting a truck to drive 50 miles every day, i would'nt put it on. this also attracts attention from the local police. But now that i think about it, the big chrome 5'' stack with a cloud of thick black smoke helps with attention getting too. :D
