I just put on the 10 ply E-rated terra-grapplers 305/70r17 (34x12. 50r17), no lift, no levelers, and so far I have not got them to rub on anything. They run smooth and not any louder than the BFGoodrich rugged trail 265/70r17 that I took off for the Nitto's.

So far no complaints.

Thanks for the in put Panther. That is what I was looking for. Is there any way I could see any pics of your truck with the 305's on it??

Two Questions on the 305's:

Did you put them on the Stock Wheels (8")?

Do they stick out past the Fender Well and therefore need Fender Flares?

With the 305/70r-17's I dropped about 400rpm and they fit fine without a lift. No rubbing and the a pretty even with the fenders. On stock 17x8 wheels.

Thanks, johnnyMac... . I think that will be the tire I go with. I am still running stock Michelin 265/70/17's, have about 62,000 on them and appears tread is only down about 50% but I need to verify. About 12/32 left so I am beginning to keep an eye on them and planning their replacement.

Is anyone running the Terra Grappler 295-70-17 or 305-70-17??With a leveling kit? How are the rpm's on the highway?

I have them in the 295 series.

What can I say, for the wieght I pull around, that plain suck - The D rating is accurate, its just not enough...

I started a thread back when I got them, I'll see if I can dig it up

I havent been impressed with the 295's i have but again they are only a d class tire. Very sticky on dry pavement but are getting poor wear out of them. And spin very easy offroad tread is just to close together to make a very good a/t. I would say this is mainly a on road tire just my . 02 Maybe you will have better luck out of E class.

Panther 1400, thanks for the pics!!

Tommygun, thanks for the link... quite the truck you have there!! I agree... I won't put D tires on my truck. The 305's are E-rated, and based on the feedback so far, seem like a pretty good choice.

I was not aware of the "E" rating on the 305's - I will for sure take a look at them

I also am considering the super swamper SSR, 35x10. 5x17 - e rated...

Like a pizza cutter ;)

You're welcome.

BTW, I find the Nitto's to be pretty quiet and comfortable running down the road.

Oh, yeah, E rated..... good stuff.

Just today I put a set of Nitto Terra Grapplers on my truck. They are the stock 265/70R17 size Load Range E.

I have 3 first impressions.

1. They just look like a tire that belongs on a Heavy Duty pickup.

2. It might be my imagination, but I think they're even quieter than the stock Michelins my truck came with.

3. The truck is now just a bit squirrelly on the slightest bump at highway speeds. This is probably due to tire pressure.

In the morning, when the tires are cool, I think I'll adjust them to 50 up front and 40 in the rear. Anyone have any better recommendations?

The stock Michelins made it to 98,500 miles and could've legally gone to 100K, but I was starting to get nervous. I'm looking for better traction on wet pavement and light mud. If these give me that, I'll be happy if they go 50 - 60K.

I put the tires on Saturday the 4th. Didn't check them on Sunday the 5th, as I had intended. Monday the 5th, I had to catch an early flight and I've been out of town until last night, with the truck sitting at the airport.

Driving home from the airport, I remembered just how bad the truck wandered with the new tires, especially when I hit some grooved pavement. I did NOT enjoy driving my truck.

This morning I checked the air pressure and found they all had 60 psi. I lowered the rears to 45 and the truck seems much better now.

It's still not as straight-and-true as with the OEM Michelins, but a little time and mileage might fix that too.

I still like the look of this tire.

Could you post an update on how the tires are handling as they wear? I just put some on my truck in stock size and experienced the wandering too. The shop put 70psi in rears and 60psi in fronts; I dropped those by 10psi each and handling improved, but I'm hoping it gets better as the tires wear in. If you tell me you've seen no improvement, I may try to return them.

I just ordered mine (305/70 R17 E) and expect to install them towards the end of this week or early next week. Will let you know how it goes.
