i have seen a deal for buy 3 procomp a/t tires and get the 4th free. anyone have any input on the quality of procomp tires.

I bought them last sept,(Mud) form 4 wheel drive parts or something like that. Buy three get the 4th for free.

They are load range D, seem a little softer in the sidewall. they work for me. I have a spare set of rims with the stock mich's on them they will go back on soon.

I've been running the 305/70/16s for a couple thousand miles - I like them so far.

The good news - Softened the ride, not too much tire noise, way more grip than the skinny stockers, no more side wall roll over during corning than the stockers and fear not sand washes and gullys in Baja now...

The bad news - Mileage dropped 1. 5 mpg due to more rolling resistance (yes that's taking the larger diameter into the equation) I WAS getting 16. 7 mpg in around town driving :{ I think this may be why the mfg's put the skinny tires on from the factory?

I had them balanced on a Hunter GSP9700 which is the way to go if you can find a shop that has one.

I had the front end aligned right away because the front driver side outer edge was wearing faster than than the other three on the stockers, even though the truck tracked straight. I'm lucky to have a alignment guru in town - More Service, Santa Cruz CA

I have the pro comp A-T's on now.

I run the 33x1250 16. 5's

A bit of info on the pro comp's.

I replaced a set of Pep boys 33's with these Pro comps.

when you look at the writting on the side wall it is very similar.

even the same type font.

I would guess the tires are made by the same manufacturer.

I did get a bad set of Pepboy's tires (way out of balance spec. )

However I can't complain for 79. 99 each for 33 12. 50's load D.

the Pro Comps are slightly noisier than Pep's.

I think the Pro comps perform better off road.

My tires alway's sepparte the cords before the tread wears out.

I had the same luck with BFG's (cord and ballance problems).

I put about 30K on a set of 315's before I replaced them with Swampers. They had about 60-70% tread left when I pulled 'em off. I believe Pro-Comp warranties tread wear for 50K as long as they're kept properly inflated and rotated.

As an aside, I had the dreaded "death wobble". The alignment shop aligned the truck to no avail. When they put the wheels on the balancer, the R side called for 14 oz. and the L side for 9 oz. I went back to 4 Wheel Parts Wholesalers thinking the tires had not been balanced right to begin with. Turns out the rims were out of round. They replaced both front rims/tires for free, even though I bought the rims elsewhere! Great service, these guys take pretty good care of their customers.

BTW, I've pretty much narrowed the death wobble cause down to caster shimmy. Align it to the spec's on Dave Fritz's site and it'll go away...
