Hey i have heard all the raves about II sps 62, but not many people seem to have went with the new ht super stock 62, please holler out if you have one and what do you think about it. Thanks, Jay
 
I have one on my 06 and like it a lot. It's great for towing, highest temp I saw towing my Unimog was 1050. This was with my TST R49 on power #2 and tq #1. I think it would work well with your mods.

Best turbo I've ever used & that is a comparison of 5 chargers. It keeps egts down better than a 64/14, but spools like a stocker. It seems like the more fuel you put to it... The happier it is. The 3rd gen trucks really get the turbo spooling quicker than the 2nd gens. I wouldn't recommend any other turbo over the super stock 62 unless you are racing only & don't tow. The super stock 62 is HT's version of the silver bullet 62. You will love it as anyone who has tried it does... Get one! ;)
 
Really? I figured it was basically the SPS62. I almost went with the QD 64, it's hard to get over the bigger is better mentality!

No the super stock 62 is the one that has the low drive pressure "killer wheel" ... . It spools fast & cools better than th htb2 64/14. I know from experience that it outflows the 64/14. HT also has the super street 62 which is equal to the sps62. The names are constantly changing for some reason, but the turbos are getting better.

I had thought the regular phat shaft 62 was similar to the HTB2 street stock 62 and the super phat shaft 62 was like the super stock 62. I knew II had a silver 62 but wasn't sure what it's improvement was. Whatever the differences are I'm pleased with the super stock 62 I got from new era.
 
Someone mentioned street stock 62, I am unaware of this, my dealer info says nothing about it. I think they were referring to the super stock 62 which is made by HTT. The silver 62 has a larger turbine wheel yet, I believe around 74mm compared to the 71mm of the sps and high tech series.

Street stock=new name for the ol' HTB2 :D

That's what I gathered from HTT's website anyway. Just go to their home page and start reading; it's there somewhere. I could be wrong though. I've been told more than once that I'm the "odd cog in the geartrain". :-laf
 
so the super stock 62 is better than the sps62 as far as cooling and airflow??

thats what am gathering from all the posts. If the ss 62 is comparable to the silver 62 how does the price measure up? If yall wish pm me with a price. I am guessing you can also upgrade the ss 62 into a set of twins also??
 
Super stock 62 is pretty much the same charger as the SPS62. The silver 62 is another step above. I know the turbine is a little larger on the silver than the super stock.
 
I have the super stock 62 on my 06 and its a sweet turbo. Had the old 62/14 0n my 04 and beat the living snot out of it for two years and when I took it off the shaft was as tight as when it went on, so I think HTT makes a solid product

I checked that out & you are correct... the ss62 has 71 wheel & silver 62 has a 74 turbine wheel. Sorry for the confusion.
 
Is the ss 62 upgradeable to twins? Would anyone recommend the ss62 over the sps62 are vise versa for and specific reason? Thanks

I'm curious on how I'll like the 64/14 for towing. Couldn't control the EGTs with the PDR40, unless the ambient temp was under 40*. So far, on the street, I'm really liking it so far. I can clean the smoke up MUCH better, and once it lights, it builds boost FAST. :D Crusing, the boost and EGTs are the same as before. A bit curious how a 12 housing would work with my 4. 10 gears, vs the 14 I have. Have yet to have any surging show up.
