I have one and love it so far,but I don't think I'd leave it on while towing. Yes,you will have all the power you want, but your EGT's will shoot throught the roof.

I absolutely love mine. Did you order the "competition" version? If you did, you are definitely going to have to do something with your auto trans. Actually, even if you have the standard PM3, I think your going to see lots of TC slippage in the higher (PM1 on up) settings. This is equivalent to settings 4 or higher on your adjustable box (I think). I usually keep my competition version on "1" or "2" for driveability. When towing, I usually keep mine on "0" or "1", but I also have DD Stage II injectors, which combined with the boost module aspect of the PM, provide plenty of power while towing, with no worries about EGTs.

On the higher settings, I absolutely have enough power to top ANY hill as fast as I dare go, even with a large load, but EGTs climb in a hurry, forcing me to back out of the throttle.

When towing, I really don't like to hammer my truck. With this box, you will have all the power you need to damage or at least seriously overstress other driveline components.

As a rule, lower settings when towing, higher settings when showing off (only on approved off-road dragways, of course).

ROSS,,how do i know if its the competition box or standard ? it came today and will probably get put in by sat. i got some fluids to change in the 94 and then gauges in the 01.

I'm pretty sure they make you sign a waiver to get the comp version... liability surrounding EPA/Emissions I reckon.

Mad Max is correct. Before TST will ship one to you, you will have to sign a waiver stating that it will only be used for off-road purposes. Technically, I think the "out of compliance" settings are 6 & above on the competition, but I'm not sure.

If you didn't have to sign the waiver, you've got the standard version. Setting 0 is stock, and setting 9 is the Power Max 3 level. Check the last issue of the TDR for TST's add. I think their curves show something like 330hp and 760tq for the PM3 level. They won't tell me what the max numbers on the comp. version are. I think setting 5 on the comp. version is equivalent to setting 9 on the standard version, although I can't remember where I heard this. Maybe here on the TDR? At any rate, the standard version will be more than you'll ever need. Unless you catch bomb-itis. Then you can never get enough.

May you live long and never catch the dreaded disease!

thanks,,,i looked at the order form in the back of the book that came with the kit,,i see about the waiver and price difference. my goal was to get the truck to 300-325hp so this will be excellent. the level 9 setting adds 135hp per tst's book

Well, quit wasting time and go put it in #ad
