anyone stacking? pressure box with a timing box. is this the equivalent to a 215hp box like on the duramax? cant wait until the hp junkies get into the 3rd gens and start stacking boxes adding hx55 and injectors. come on guys get rid of you old high hp dodges a get ya new one. the 3rd gens need more hp junkies. the most i have read is one guy has injectors turbo and box.

here is the best combo right now kwickkurt, dd3's, ez stacked with tst. 500-535hp:eek: :D this is what the avg bombing person is going to have with these 3rd gens:D spray a little and we will be looking at over 600:--) reliable, safe, durable rwhp(we will see)

the duramax (450hp) is doing this but seems to be blowing out injectors within 100miles and burning pistons and filling the crankcase with diesel fuel. or causing head gaskets to fail(i think that has to do more with the aluminum heads mated with cast iron block in a diesel that has been turned up IMO)

I thought all the DuraMax's were burning pistons and filling the crankcase with diesel fuel and blowing head gaskets STOCK.

if ya stack an ez w/ a b-dog adj box, ya will set a code. the b-dog box has timing AND fuel pressre in the same box. fp is adjustable. on hi it adds lots of fp

muddy thanks. how are the duramax's getting to have fun with a 215hp box and we are not? is it only a matter of time? i dont want to buy a southbend for nothing! we need a 200hp box!

the dmax been out longer. just give it time and we will have an over 200hp box.

meanwhile,

just get some injectors. in combo w/ a 140hp box will put a big:D on yo face :)

Stacking?????

John... I don't believe in stacking anything together except "drinks" at a bar. . Stacking fueling boxes, IMHO is like drinking double shots of wiskey, with beer chasers, eventually something is going to go or go wrong??? My word of advise, since these fueling boxes are becoming more complex and sophistcated, them talking to each other to get the desired results may be detrimental.

Steve

P. S... I can heard you saying it right now, John, "that crazy HeberRam giving me advise about stacking, I'm going to do it anyway!!!" :D :D I do have my normal moments?? .

A new one !!!!

cant wait until the hp junkies get into the 3rd gens and start stacking boxes adding hx55 and injectors. come on guys get rid of you old high hp dodges a get ya new one.

Hey CatCracker, I'll get a new one if you go an extra 40K your not doing anything with. One thing that makes my old decrepid 12-Valver better than the new '03s is ... I DON'T HAVE ANY $500+/month PAYMENTS ON IT. Haven't had a truck payment in 4 years and it feels gooood.

I ain't giving up on my old rattle trap for a long time.

I think that the power upgrades for all these diesel pick-up is going to be a think of the past real soon (hate to say). The only thing "new and improved" on the Cummins/Duramax/PS will be ever increasingly complicated emmisions controls that will make BOMbing these things impossible or so expensive it won't be worth it.

I think these ol' 12-valvers will be collector's items in the near future, and the power standard that all the other diesels to come will be measured by.

Hey steve I know the best stacking is left to BEERS!:D I have to stack'em in the quest of power! I figure ; go till it blows and " Stay On The Gas and Dont Get Passed!";)

FATCAT,

DONT GET ME WRONG HERE I LOVE ME SUM 12 VALVES WISH I COULD GETS MEEZ ONE FOR A PULLIN TRUCK!

IMO the 03's and early 04's are likely to be the hp champs down the road. The hi-po scene isnt likely to go away and it is already expensive enough on the current truck to limit these mods to those with some discretionary income. Not that it has ever been cheap in the first place. As for stacking Im waiting for one of the shops or someone braver than me to do some testing on their trucks. There is no reason why it cant be done if you use a timing and pulse width box like the TST combined with an ez.

krabman,

nice mods. i think my mods will be close to yours when i am done except i will add a edge comp box and forget the rail pressure box unless these trucks show that they can stack the ez with comp and stay dependable. what kind of ponies you makin? what are you future mods if any?

No dyno yet. I would think Im north of 400 rear wheel at any rate. Im waiting to see what shakes out with the fueling boxes and I may stack or change over to something like the TST or just keep what I have. Since its not all out there yet its hard to guess what best meets my needs. I never had any intentions of going as far as possible with the horsepower. I just wanted a truck with good seat of the pants that was fun to drive, could tow my boat without egt problems, be driven by the wife without worry, not leave me on the side of the road. I'll leave the big numbers for other folks.

I HAVE STACKED THE BOXES!!!!!!!!!!!! Do not do it. Codes, Tremors, Shakes, Smokes(alot:D ), Stumbles, and adds a heck of alot of power. Still I will not do it again. I did the EZ on level 6 and the bullydog on level 3. WOT temps 1600*+ Clutch slips, lots of smoke. The two boxes are not compatable. It will be nice when the Edge guys come out with the timing side of their programming. I think they are having the same problems that Bullydog did in the beginning. The biggest problem to overcome in achieving max HP will be fuel delivery. With an EZ and DDII's you can create a vacuum. Not Good!!!!! I'm sure the BullyDog box does the same thing. Why do you think they say not to run it on level 3 all the time. Very hard on the injection pump. High pressures are hard on everything. I am running my EZ on level 6 now for about a month with no problems. We will see what happens. DO NOT STACK YOUR BOXES. Fuel pressure is way to high.

Yep, for those who keep saying the truck shouldnt need any lift pump help your platform is getting pretty skinny. The fact is I was able to pull my fuel pressure down to zero with just the ez and it doesnt get any better from there. If your going injectors and what not you need to pretty much figure in some kind of pusher pump kit because you will need it. As for stacking I would think sticking with a rail pressure box combined with a timing box (not 2 combo boxs) is the only realistic way. Better control and plenty of fuel for most. Those alone should push an injectored truck well up into the mid 500 and then some.

Greg, you stacked two boxes each with pressure increase functions? boy, no wonder :--)

I gotta agree with you on stacking boxes that were never tested together, nor has any attempt been made to make them work together! recipe for disaster. now then, the Edge boxes are a different animal -- one is pressure only, and the new one is timing/duration only. perfectly stackable, not just because they don't conflict in purpose, but because they are MEANT to be stacked, built by the same company, and tested to work together.

Now, stack an Edge EZ with a no-pressure TST box and you might have something. Still, you just don't know what kind of bus activity monster you are creating when you stack two boxes of different origins together. I wouldn't do it, but then I wouldn't raise rail pressure either :). BTW, does anyone know what rail pressures this design runs at in other applications? Don't the pressure increases bother anyone?
