LFI-I

Judicious Use Of Deadly Force

The most famous LFI course, 40 hours of immersion training that (Lawyers and cops who've taken it agree) goes well beyond law school and the police academy in this critical decision-making area. Prevention, intervention and aftermath management are all thoroughly considered. The course includes: when the citizen can and cannot use a gun in self defense... tactics for home defense... street gunfighting tactics... how to take a criminal suspect at gunpoint... selection of guns, ammo, and holsters... psychological preparation for violent encounters... justifying your actions in court. Intensive combat shooting comprises 40% of the course, the remainder being lecture, video and student interaction. 40 hrs.

un freakin real! O. K the perp is coming at you with a knife. BEFORE he gets within that 27 foot range of attack (Which most humans can cover in an average 3. 5 seccond) you need to assess the possibility of flee. Or if no exit Draw and express your intent , folowed with a distinct warning.

A: he leaves do not give chase as role has been reversed and now you are the asailent.

B: His attack twards you continues and you fire, wounding him and he leaves the scene wounded and weapon ditched somewhere and he goes to the police before you do ... you are done. If you get there before him ... ... you are done

C: Dead men can't talk.

Assuming he wants your wallet you throw it on the ground backing away to buy time to draw weapon , express intent and warn. That still leaves you with the above three options.

(I am being broken into this from by budd who has his FFL and has taken every class known so I want to go to this class with an idea)

Yup! Just ask Masaad Ayoob who Mr. Testosterone is? Let's see if he remembers me. :D

(BTW, that was a "name" HE gave me)

I ALWAYS shot 12 ga. magnum slugs or magnum 00 buck loads. In the case of the slugs... always Remington magnums! Why? They were/are the hottest thing going... by far!

Yes, here is some of my training:

LFI (Lethal Force Institute)... Masaad Ayoob

Introduction To Deadly Force (03-17-91) (1st class held in the Pacific Northwest)

LFI I Completion Course (09-18-92)

LFI II (04-02-93)

Judicious Use Of Deadly Force (04-10-94) **this was actually a retake of the Introduction To Deadly Force course**

DTI (Defense Training International, Inc. )... John Farnum

Advanced Defensive Handgun and Shotgun, Discretionary Shooting, Retention and Disarms course (07-20-94)

I also trained with Jim Cirillo in his very first Pacific Northwest class: Close Quarter/Tactical Pistol Course, receiving a survivability index rating of 100 (of 100). You should have seen the look on his face when he looked at my target! No one beats me with my H&K P7M10... not on reloading a magazine anyway! :D

I have also taken numerous training courses from Marty Hayes of The Firearms Academy of Seattle.

Each and every instructor is extremely top notch! Although I haven't done much training in the last 8-10 years... I need to keep up with it!

And I will!

Put it this way, Masaad Ayoob is a NO BS kind of guy! If you are genuinly serious about firearms training he is definitely one of the very best. While most may have great hands-on weapons training, NO ONE even comes close to LFI's classroom training! (IMO) If you have ever met Bill Kondolay, you have a pretty good down payment on the way Mr. Ayoob is. :D

As I remember, it was 21' (7 yards). And we had a one-legged Viet Nam vet. in our LFI II class that could easily cover that distance in less time than the 3 second barrier.

BTW, I have most of Masaad Ayoob's training videos as well as quite a few of his books (personally signed by him of course) :D

Well today I wrapped up the law portion and man My head is spinning! Learned a ton tho. Also as a bonus how to disarm anyone at close quarters. It's amazing how you can make a guy three times the build you are cry :{ for help :-laf Really it comes down to programming yourself to do things in a very thought controlled manner. As high stress situations your chemical imbalance begins and the human brain goes into survival mode and there is nothing you can do about it EXEPT prepare yourself before hand. Practice and practice become routine and once they do your brain will adopt those options when the situation exists. Much like muscle memory. Practice the bad and you will develop bad habbits and or practices. Reformat for the better and or wiser and you will adapt.

Also covered wounded tactical proceedures , emergency , and wounded emergency under fire. Cool part is I can now clear a stove pipe and tacticaly reload and rack my 92fs one handed weak side in the dark

I highly reccomend at least taking a Handgun defence and the law course at the very least at your local club. My teacher Paul Smith is one of 12 instructors that have the ability to teach at the level of Masaad and man the guy is amazing. Litterally had guys come at him full on with training weapons including swords and he took em down at a fifth of the level he would powerwise on the street. There had to be like 900 Hypathetical bones broken today and many a dead assailants LOL!
