I have pulled 33K total weight, two trailers. Front trailer has a 5th wheel coupler as per DOT requirements, dual tandem axles and rear 18 ft speed loader trailer has dual 7K axles. Brakes on all of them hooked to a Brakesmart.

Pacbrake mounted inline under the cab. Have has safety checks many times and all is good.

I just switched to the TOYO HT 17" tires for my dually. I was waiting for them for a long time. When they did finally arrive, I was just about to drop the loot for 19. 5's all around. Glad I got these... very pleased with them.

6 spd here. 373 rear gears. 10-12 mpg towing.

bm,i tow trailers rangeing from 3000lbs to 30k on a reg basis. trailers under 12k are no problem, there is no difference in engine temps nor does the truck have any prob handleing it. when loads get on the higher side, temps run around the 215 mark[approx]but the fan will cycle and cool the truck down. when heavy loaded the temp will stay a shade over the 200mark. my 02 powerstroke runs cooler, and the past 97 7. 3 ran cool as well,my 95 dodge cummins also ran cool, hauling the same loads, under the same conditions. i'am told the 3rd gen cummins is setup to run hotter. .

I've had fords, those trannys will blow with no load and have before plenty of times.

Look, I'm not saying that what I am doing is right, I probably will have issues do to the fact that I am overloaded. All I said was that the truck has plenty of power and stops well.

I am just trying to see if other people overload there truck like I do and what kind of problems they have if any.

Hey Brian, don't sweat the weight police, they hijack these threads all the time. Check out the light weight medium duty wrecker. I will bet you a dollar to a donut hole that the rear axle is several thousand pounds over weight. If that truck weighs 15,000lbs empty, 5,000lbs on the front axle and 10,000lbs on the rear, you add the 7,000lbs truck smack dab over the rear axle and you have 17,000lbs load on the rear. That axle is probably rated @ 13/15klbs. However nothing is said about that.

When we haul we roll through the scales (commercial nature of things) and we have never been tagged as overloaded. I believe our highest scale weight was just a touch over 42k. I don't like to do that, but sometimes we have no choice. An average load going out of here is around 32k.

Granted, my trucks are sticks, but the first 150k on my 04. 5 was done hauling this way. Since it serves more as a daily than a tow rig now, I feel like I am constantly changing parts, but such is the nature of the beast.

The trucks will do it, but like I said, it doesn't feel to spiffy. DOT will typically look at the tires on the ground to determine if they are going to nail you - but like every other law written for vehicles - this is up to the individual that you are talking to.

tx gooseneck I do the same kind of hauling you do. We frequently haul out of the Paris area and southern OK. All of these guys think that the pulling they do is tough, but trailer stacks can be really heavy and a super wind pig. Not to mention pulling a second stack behind the first. It's work that has to be done. The dodge do a great job for us. BTW i really like the looks of your hydraulic trailers and will be showing the to the boss tomorrow. Maybe he'll give you a shout. What town are you in?

We're in Blossom, just east of Paris out 82. Who do you haul for? I've got a new compound dovetail where instead of it being 11' standard it rides in the 7' positions with a 4' fold under section. Makes for a lot of hydraulic hoses, but a sweet setup! I'll try to get some pics uploaded.

Haven't pulled a double stack, but I can imagine!

Do i need more brakes?

My total trailer weight is about 5500 lbs. I have a SRW 2500 QC with an auto, only have brakes on the front axle of the tandem axled trailer, would you put brakes on the rear also? Stops fine.
