I am going to buy a 16' gooseneck dump trailer. It will be a "deck over" for sideloading pallets (folding sides). I will also pull an L-35 Kubota backhoe. I want to run Dexter 8K axles and use my Rickson steel wheels/245 Michelins for trouble free heavy hauling. Anyone pull anything like this? Any good sources for a good mfg? Too much Chinese junk on the ones in the trailer stores. George

The best built dump trailers that I have seen are made by Liberty Trailer in Indiana. These things are extremely overbuilt.

Titan Trailers also make a very well built trailer and a bit more affordable.

I have a 12k rated Tophat model. I bough tit around here, but the dealer said he gets them from some place in Texas. It's done well for me, it's a smaller unit, I'm pretty sure it's a 12ft trailer, perhaps 14 with 6' side walls with hyrdaulic up and down lift on it. I don't really have any complaints other then the lift won't pick up the trailer when it's at full capacity, kinda makes it pointless doesn't it?

I only paid 6,900 for it so for the money I think it's done a good job for me.

Thanks men. Love to hear more. Rman... are you talking about the foot not being able to lift the loaded trailer so you can hook up? That makes sense because one would leave the thing somewhere to be loaded and come and pick it up. Better leave it higher than your bumber!!! I have wondered about that because everything I am seeing is marginal... a 14K# deckover (my desire because sides fold down) has 14K worth of Chinese tires... no margins for overload error. George

I bought a BRI-Mar 14K deckover gooseneck with ramps (16' X 8'). Sides are not fold down ( real negative ) I was going to haul a JD 4600 with FEL and BH on it. The neck had extra tie downs for the FEL or whatev went on it. Weight was fine the build was fine but it was a compromise for a large frame CUT. Not much room. And if you put a bucket on the neck and detached it the tractor almost goes backward due to the steep ramp angle lack of weight on the front. I still have it have not used the dumping feature yet and ended up buying a 24' gooseneck with pop-up dovetail (20+ 4') and an expanded metal deck over neck. You will find the short dump bed limiting, but a good compromise for a single trailer.

George,

I meant the actual hydraulic ram won't dump the trailer if it's loaded to capacity. If I ever haul gravel or dirt I have to load it toward th eback of the trailer and can only carry about half as much as I'd like to. It has ramps in the back and large D-ring tie downs inside, I can fit a skid steer inside of it rather easily.

The sides are not fold down however. I use it primarily to load and unload waste from construction sites and comes in handy around the yard for moving loads around.

The problem you get into with larger trailers like your after is the hinges and rams just can't support the tremendous weight. The trailers themselves start getting very heavy coupled with your load and your just hauling too much for a light duty pickup.
