Gee Nate,

thanks for the insight. Re-read the question please. I asked if anyone has tried them, not what you would or wouldn't do

OK then,

whose has a good alternative to the OE lights. Tired of dealing with the contacts that keep overheating and the moisture problems in the lenses. Still curious about the bulb warning though.

All the aftermarket units I've seen are not as bright and they're not as visible from the side as the stockers. Thats probably why these manufacturers haven't gotten them DOT approved. Otherwise they could sell them en-mass.

I've always thought the stockers on third gens with their clear lenses were kinda innovative looking, and I've never had any functional problems with them.

I like those! I recently upgraded my trailer lights to LED's. Much brighter than the stock incandescent bulbs with less current draw. A little pricy ($299. 00/set) but I think I will try them.

Thanks.

If you do try them let us know how they work out, I was looking at the same ones because they look the closest to stock, they are DOT approved and they have LEDs mounted to the sides to address the side marker problem with all the other aftermarket tail lights.

Actually I like those but in the carbon fiber. What really matters is the look YOU like. There are plenty of guys trucks on here that I think look bad. They have things that I would never put on my truck if you paid me. However, if they like the look or the way they have the truck then it is just fine. I love LED's and if you don't you might consider this. Most every vehicle built after 2010 will have not only LED's in their tail lights but they are also developing headlights as well. They are just better. They use less energy, last SO much longer, they are brighter, and they are safer. Safer because they light up quicker giving the guy behind you more time to stop. Who wants a bent tailgate if they can help it!

They are also being developed to repace lightbulbs in your home. Lights in a home can account for lots of energy. I read that if everyone used them in their homes it would account for about 20% of the total energy usage in the USA. I have been researching all this low energy stuff lately in order to build a true energy efficient house. My truck currently needs a new garage and I am going to provide it with what it wants!

I have been eyeballing the same ones that Cali-600 posted. If you buy them or if anyone else has them, let us know how well they work. So many goodies... so little $! :-laf

After checking the ad, no where does it claim that the lights are DOT approved. Most of the ads That I have seen have said if their product is DOT approved and usually supply a card stating so.

DOT or not, I'm gonna be the guinea pig. Ordered a set that should be here by Monday. They have a 30 day return policy if I don't like them.

good thing. they probably dont have a resistor, allthough they are actually a decent brand. you may not have problems with them. thank god they arent apc.

Placed the order over the phone after talking to one of their "product specialists" who assured me they have load resistors built in. Plug & play with no "bulb out" warning lights.

We shall see... ... ...

Second from the last line, Dot Approved!
