Looking for a tow chip that I can also use for everday, and not be tempted to "TURN IT UP"! :D Want to semi baby my 48RE, also the price is very reasonable.

They say this standard chip with 65hp, is the best of both worlds with low egts.

Opinions?

Thanks

just finished some rail pressure measurements on quad's 60 HP setting. I expect this is nearly the same if not identical to the non-adjustable 65HP box.

I believe based on my measurements that this box touches 26,100 or so psi in the rail but does not appear to exceed that figure. The 100HP box does hit the rail pressure sender saturation point (so you cant measure above about 26,500) but the little box really and truly appears to do just what Quad said - stay at or below 26,000.

when I compare with traditional pressure boxes in this same power range I find strong evidence that the Quadzilla box acheives similar horsepower levels at lower rail pressures.

nice.

You think it is the same as the 60hp on the quad box?

They say the XZT is a towing mod. Have you or anyone tried towing in the 60hp mode?

No one has tried the chip?

I know the XZT is "non-adjustable", however does it at least have a 0HP or OFF setting? Or would you have to disconnect it if you wanted to run at stock power levels for some reason?

EC,

Keep your shirt on man ! I just got my Xillerader installed and haven't even gotten to take it around the block yet. I plan on pulling my trailer to e. TN. on Friday, and I'll do my level best to post or PM you over the weekend.

D#mn it man, Hurry up! :-laf

I am looking to buy this chip. 65hp with nothing for me to be tempted to turn up.

No one has seemed to try the XZT yet. Just trying to find out what people have seen on the 60hp Quad setting. Maybe a good comparison note.

ECappleman, I will say that I kind of wish I would have went the XZT route. I keep wanting to run on the 100 hp setting (runs really nice), but I am worried about the elevated rail presssures. I argree it is better not to be tempted. I haven't even come close to an EGT problem empty (60hp). I can't imagine I will have any problems towing.

I hope you can hold your breath untill Saurday :D I have a little tease for you. I ran mine yesterday for the first time. I tried all three levels, and man is it ever smooth. I actually liked the 60 hp setting best and I think it is going to b the ticket for towing, I can't wait to find out either. I'll post some data, EGT-boost press-%grade etc as soon as I can once I get there.

ECappleman - I have the quad race box. This past weekend I towed 4000lbs for a few hundred miles on the 60hp setting the whole time. Even taking off fast from a light or stepping on it hard up hill etc, I didn't go over 1100. I mean if you floored it and just left it there I'm sure you could hit 1150-1200, but for the most part that setting is totally safe with the load I had. I haven't hooked up more weight than that to really tell how hot it will get, but I typically don't tow more than that anyway.

I think the xzt is a nice choice economically, but I like the adjustability. I like being able to leave the box completely off when it's cold out and my truck is just warming up. I warm it up stock and then crank up the power. Oh, the 100 and 140hp levels are nice too ;)

EC,

Tows fine on 60, good power, pulls the hills fine. I went a route I,ve done many times before pulling my FW, GCW 21,000#, a couple of long grades, one is 4%. It hit 1,200 deg. only 3 times, the rest of the time of the time it didn't excede 1,150 max, boost never exceded 22 psi. Most of the time it stayed below 1,000 deg(I also have 4" exh,Scotty III intake, & TAG) Haven,t filled up yet, but it dosen't appear to have hurt the fuel milage. Overall it's a fine box, and 60 is my favorite setting, I think you will like it. The only thing that I noticed was with the cruise control on it wasn't quiet as smooth as my VA, but it was hard to tell with the truck and trailer jostling down the interstate.

If this is confusing, I'm posting under adverse conditions

quick question do you think the 03 california so model will produce more than the advertized 60 hp since it's so detuned as compared to an ho model. california so models produce 235 hp and 460 trk stock...

I doubt it. It makes sense to me that the box takes the stock signals and modifies them enough to get the advertised hp/tq gain and that's it. If the truck makes 15 hp more stock, it will make 15 more with the box.

The only difference I have heard refers to fuel mileage, where the worst trucks see the best improvements. I have not been able to keep my foot out of it long enough to realize mpg gains.

I have the xzt, and I love it. I too did not want the extra power because I have no restraint (2000 CTD w/comp and 275's tore up to much stuff on 5/5, and 03 Duradud died w/ attitude on high). SO I went with the xzt. I have my probe mounted right out of the # 3 hole and stock I can get about 1450* with the xzt I can hit 1500* real easy. Then I installed a AFE torque tube and a free flowing muffler and now it is hard to hit 1450 with the chip. I live @ 7500 ft so that would have a little effect also.

On diffrent not I did through a code this week 0192 (low fuel pressure) but the light went off and no problems running at all. Probably just a glitch in the trucks brain.
