Hello

I'm wondering if any of you guys have install the factory 7x10 monster towing mirrors on their truck and keep the reg power mirrors? I don't want to end up with holes in the door and body work to remove the power mirrors. I don't know if the tow mirror arms will clear the power mirrors or not. Figured if they would, I could bolt and unbolt the tow mirrors as needed. From the pictures I've seen of the OE towing mirrors, the arms look they would clear the power mirror bases, but not sure. The OE 7x10 towing mirrors are still serviced by D. C. , so getting them is easy. Just don't want to spend money and be stuck with mirrors I can't use. I couldn't find any in the junk yard to try fit either. Thanks!

Yup, my dad did on his '91, I know when I saw it he had taken the power head and arm off and left the bezel in place on the door. But by looking there is room for both but the tow mirrors won't be able to be turned in with both on.

Earl,

It has been my theory for some time now, that aftermarket 2nd Gen mirrors could be installed on our trucks. However, it would require replacing the vent windows with plate aluminum, the same thickness as the glass. The mirror base would bolt to the plate and the controller would be rigged on the inside.

Is it workably realistic? I don't know, but I'd like to have the parts to try sometime. Maybe I should stop breathing so much exhaust.

EZ;

I made my own towing mirrors that attach to my stock mirrors. I didn't like the slide on things that is on the market. seen a design and copied it to some extent. one bolt is removed and the extension is stored for later, with no or little adjustment needed later. I'll see if I can get an attachment on this thread.

Ez; I also put this photo in my rig photos a lttle biger but maybe you can get the idea.

Tug,

I was pondering that idea as well. But I'd worry about high speeds and winds. Might be a bit much on the vent pivots or vibration prone?? I almost had a broken unusable mirror, but they took it from 10 bucks to 60 bucks on ebay. People are crazy, the mirror wasn't even useable. But I thought I had it for 10 bucks to see what I could rig up. But that didn't pan out. I'd be willing to give it a try if I could get dirt cheap try fit mirror. I've seen the 2nd and 3rd tow mirrors for 180ish bucks for manual, but if it worked, I'd want heated power ones. :-laf

I have the slip on worthless mirrors. I just bought a 5th trailer that's 8' wide, so I need something.

Thanks for your input Marv and Scrappy.
