hey guys, i was just about to redo my fuel system on my truck, most likely was going to put a pusher pump near tank, with stock pump inline. talk to a friend ,thats a good mech. he has a lift pump on his d-max 2002 108,000 miles on truck, he was told d-max did not have a lift pump. he installed a pump, that runs 4-5 psi before injector pump, pump has about 95,000 miles on it, he put it near fuel tank, he got it from (kennedydeisel.com). those anyone ever heard of that pump before. or tryed it on dodge before. he never had a fuel problem, it has to be a good pump. this my be a fix.

One thing to consider with a pusher - if it fails will it still allow fuel to flow through it?

The answer with the Carter 4600 is yes in most failure modes. Thus if you have the stock LP and a pusher, and either goes bad, you are still running.

My 4600 didn't get the memo on that! I had a rock fly up and break the head of the bolt I used to hold the ground wire to the chassis. It blocked the fuel and stalled the truck. I couldn't figure out what was wrong until I looked over at the fuel pressure gauge. Crawled underneath, fixed wire, bump the starter, built pressure, and started the truck. Not a problem ever since!

Actually the D-max does have a lift pump, a gear type bolted to the back of the high pressure pump. I wish i had that set up, not much can go wrong with that. #ad

The pump Kennedy sells is a free flowing design that does a pretty good job. If your thinking high horsepower you might need two of his pumps there a pretty cool design used in the commercial industry for pumping coolant for large computers systems they hold up well with Diesel and if it does fail the truck will still run hope that helps some
