Best route?

Time to shop for tires for the trailer. I hear good and bad about Marathons, same with Carlisles (sp)... . I like the Coopers on the truck and got to wondering if anyone is using Coopers trailer tires on their TT's.

I (and a few others) went thru so many Coopers that my friend, a local tire dealer, quit carrying them. Lots worse than my experiences with Marathons.

1st things 1st... make sure what tire you buy is rated for trailer duty.

I have the marathons, and I beat them up pretty well and they've been holding up great. My tire guy says they are the workhorse tires for the trailer tires. My tire guy sells both goodyear and cooper. He runs coopers on his trucks and loves them, but runs the marathons on his trailers.

I didn't select the marathons, they came with my TT. Been about 3 years now.

Me, I HATE badyear, never had luck with them. But knock wood with the marathons.

Now that I've said that, I'm sure the next time I hit the road with the TT, I'll have 4 blowouts.

Guess I should have added that he just quit carrying the trailer tires, the auto and truck tires seem to be good.

cooper tires

you guys have me a little worried. I just put four new Cooper tires on a 27 fifth wheel. I used an eight ply load range D. What type of Coopers did you have troulbe with?

GAdams, There were recalls on some Cooper tires 10 or so years ago and as you know it takes a l o n g time for consumer confidance to "rebuild".

Re: cooper tires

I have cooper SRM-II's on my truck. I was thinking of swaping them onto my 5th wheel and buying new SRM-II's for the truck.

My camper has something like 205-16 E's on it. If you add up the weight on the sidewalls, plus the hitch weight you have the total grose weight of the trailer. I have to run them at 80 psi and they still look like there low on air.

This camper came with Goodyear WT tires (which are truck tires, not trailer tires)
