Southbend hydraulic assembly $ question

Changing power stearing fluid is a GOOD IDEA!

OK, good info, Recap Questions.

Add On Oil Cooler is on the oil bypass system. Not in the Main Oil System?

Oil temp is measured just before the oil path splits and goes to the Turbo & Main lube path ( small plug on filter housing )?

? Pictures ?? If & when you get a chance ( I know , being pushy now )

Good work, thanks for report ...

Great Results!

All:

sorry about taking so long to get back to you, but I do have good news. The Perma Cool oil cooler cools the engine oil by 18' normal driving and over 50' towing 17K lbs. It also reduces coolant temperature by about 20' while towing.

My overall impression is installing an engine oil cooler is more than worthwhile if you tow heavy. It probaby has benefit for normal operation too.

My wife was photographer and is out of town. I can't find but two pictures, which I will post now. Here is a list of materials:

1 ea Perma Cool 401 engine oil cooler

1 ea Amsoil 15K Oil Bypass system

4 ea additional 1/2' high pressure fittings (4 come w/ the bypass system)

8' additional 13/32" high pressure hose (8' comes w/ bypass system)

2ea 1/2" brass ball valves

4ea 1/2" to 1/2" barrel fittings

2ea 90 deg 1/2" fittings

2ea 45 deg 1/2" fittings

1ea pkg of 4 nylon transmission cooler fasteners

1ea oil temp gauge w/ 1/8" npt sending unit

total cost is somewhere around $500. 00

All:

My wife showed me where the pictures are:

The Amsoil bypass system mounted to one of the bolts on the engine mount.

The valves I set up to bypass the oil cooler in cold weather. I have a couple more pics to post later.
