As much as I like the looks of the front end on the 03s and 04s, I would like to get some protection up there as I drive alot in rural areas at night and feel it's only a matter of time before I hit a deer, steer, or something else at night.

As my CTD is too long as it is to fit into the garage, adding a little more length to it is not an issue.

I was on the RanchHand website, and they seem to have some pretty well made grille guards, etc. I was wondering if any of my CTD brothers or sisters have had any experience with their products, and what their grille guard looks like on one of the new CTDs.

For that matter, if you can recommend any other makes of front end protection, please feel free to educate me on the topic.

Something tells me that even something as small as a little Blacktail could do some serious damage to the front end if it hit it in the wrong spot.

Thanks in advance,

Bryan

RH Grille Guard

Hey, Brian:

I had a Ranch Hand on my '95 that I put it on after hitting a deer. A few weeks later I hit another one at 50 MPH---I sent it flying into the woods! I got home and rinsed the fur/blood/etc... off the bumper and it was as good as new.

The only thing you might want to consider with the RH is the weight. That's why I went with a Denver Off Road aluminum bumper on my '01. I love that one too.

Hey Brian:

Check out www.toughcountry.com

They build a bumpers similar to Ranchhand. The front end replacement I'm going to install on my 04 is call the Apache.

They offer several different options and type's of finishes.

I have both front and rear ordered for my 03. Should get them later this week. I got a set of them for my 94 (freeOo. ) and really like them. The day after bolting them on the old truck, some guy hit the bumper of my new truck:mad:

Ranchhand grill guard

A friend of mine just put on a Ranch Hand , it a "beefy" grill guard, looks good. His only complaint was that they had to remove the tow hooks in front to get it to fit correctly. Apparently some models will not fit that well on an 03 with tow hooks. As information---
