Anyone have any experience with an Airaid filter? Am I putting my engine at risk using one?

I was given an Airaid air filter as a gift. I usually stick with stock filters (Mopar), but this one seems to be of some benefit. It's like a K & N in that it's a lifetime filter that can be cleaned and re-oiled. The metal is stainless steel and the filter seems well built.

I had 7,000 on the old filter & it looked clean but when I put on the Airaid filter, there was a noticeable improvement in performance and my mileage increased about 1 MPG over the last 1,100 miles to 21. 6 MPG mostly highway driving at 55-60 MPH.

I just bought one myself. I have used K&N filters for some time on my gassers, and my dad has one on his 01 CTD. I love them. But the dealers don't seem to like them around here. They tell me they do not filter as well. I have a stroked 383 that dynoed at 353 horse and 512 ftlbs of torque. With the K&N on there the throttle body stays cleaner than the throttle body was after 5,000 miles in my 04 Tahoe before it went to K&N. K&N does not make one for the 05 yet, that is why I bought the Airaid.

I believe the K&N that fits our air box does NOT meet the Dodge filtration spec. The airraid, however, does. I have the airraid cold air intake and love it. No problems at all and it seems to do a great job. I've checked the intake tube and it seems to be perfectly clean after having the filter in for 40k miles.

I have been using mine for over 60K and love it! I have the one that replaces the airbox lid and uses a big oval filter. I have that hooked to a Torque Tube and they seem to work great together.
