My Banks EB & Controller work very well, HOWEVER their supplied mechanical diaphragm vacuum pump longevity leaves much to be desired, and it's just too noisy for me. Its clunkitty sound is annoying; can't tell if there's something amiss with the motor, etc.

I want to replace it with a 12V electric vacuum pump. Banks shared info that I'll need to maintain 17+ InHg to reliably operate the EB Servo assy.

I'm preparing to toss a dart at some choices I've amassed, but would sure like to know I'm not the 1st to reinvent this 'wheel'. Thanks much.

I've been using a regular pump for the last 8 yrs with no problems, im hooked into the vacuum side of the pump" instead of the discharge side

I installed an electric vacuum pump on the Ford in my sig for my brakes, it works fine. No clue on how long it will last. If the engine is off you can hear it but not when it is running. It kicks on at about 17 and off at 22.

I used the SSBC 28146 from Summit.

Thanks Nisaacs; As soon as $$ shows up, I'll go with your choice. [I just printed the Summit page for this pmp.] Did you install air inlet filter of some kind?

I installed an "Angel Eye" switch in the dash cigar lighter hole, to turn on my Exhaust Brake Control. Now I'll [try to] use that signal wire to energize the new Vac Relay whenever I'm feelin' the need. Thanks so much for your data.

The vacuum side is the inlet, so no. The exhaust side is straight piped:) You will probably need a storage tank if the Banks don't have one, I am using my brake booster as a vacuum canister. A wrecking yard should have lots of them, the old Ford pickups used one that looked like a 1 pound coffee can.
