How effective is it? Which brake are you using? What does it do to your engine and transmission temps?

As I understand it from talking to Bill Kondolay at DTT, it is not adviseable to use an exhaust brake on a first gen truck with the 727 or 518 trannies because the converter is not a lock-up converter and the brake will cause the transmission to heat up to much. from what I have reserched for my 93 auto you would have to convert to a 47rh transmission with lockup converter since the 727 & 518 can not be adapted for a lock-up converter as far as i know. It is either that or swich to a manual transmission(nv4500) or get 94 or newer truck. hope this helps a little. Bill's other good suggestion was to get a trailer with good brakes,(surgeis what he mentioned), or possibly electric.
