I want to Linex my bed, and have them cover the top of my bed rails too. I also want to install a polished stainless bed rail protector/cover, but I'm worried about there being a gap between the SS cover and bed due to the thickness of the Linex on top of the bed rails and top of the tailgate. Anyone doing or seen this, is there a gap, does it work?

What stainless bed rail protector are you using? Which one is best, ANY PICTURES?

Thanks all!

When you say "Bed Rail protector/cover", you don't mean the bar type that fit in the stake pockets do you?

If so, I have Luverne Stainless ones on my truck with Rhino over the rails.

Good luck.

I just read that you have a slide in camper. You probably don't want the type that fit in the stake pockets.

Not stainless but DeeZee Black diamond plate rail protectors over rhino. Thank god I have em put it that way. They take the brunt of ladders in and out and heavy things that may be slid over the rail. I dunno if you can see em in the pics in my sig.

Thanks for the replies. RRees, I'm refering to the flat rail protectors, not the kind that fit in the stake pockets.

I want to Linex my bed and include the bed rails. I also want to use polished stainless bedrail protectors over the Linex. I'm wondering if the Linex on the bedrails would cause a big gap between the bedrail protector and the bed itself. ??

You might want to take the bed rail caps with you when you have the liner done. I have a topper and there is a slight variation in the liner on the bed rails from side to side. I talked with the guy who did the liner before hand and he told me he would get it close but no guarantees. If he had the topper he could match sides perfectly.

Good suggestion T-bone. I haven't purchased the bedrail protectors yet, maybe it's time to go shopping, and take 'em to Linex.

I had the aluminum diamond plate rail caps on my '97 and they worked/looked great. Over time, however, they basically rubbed down to bare metal underneath. I figure if I had Linex under them, it would have worked out better. The other thing I can do is just call around to various Linex dealers and see what THE EXPERTS say! What a concept. :)
