Anyone using Edge Insight on a 2009 CTD?

Is anyone already using an Edge Insight on their 2009 6. 7L CTD 2500? I was looking to buy one and when visiting various Dealer websites they show it for use only up through 2008 build years. I emailed Edge and they said "no PN for a 2009"... . not sure what that meant. Seems like it should be compatible since it is running off the OBDII protocol - right?



Anyone using it on a '09? Issues/problems?

I'm using one, I built 1 profile that looked at 16 parameters and it kept locking it up, got a new one from Edge and said profile locked it up also, works great with the default profile and about 5-6 others I've created. I need to e-mail Edge the problem profile I created to see if they can figure out which parameter it doesn't like but just haven't gotten around to it, other than that it works like a champ.

Thanks MrLuckey... ... ... What is the birthdate on your '09 Ram? I received a followup email from Edge that the Insight monitor does NOT work with the 2009 Dodge, which seems odd since it is supposedly a Read-Only device looking at the OBD port open broadcast of pid/sids.

My 09 was born on 10/2008 and the insight does work, I've talked to them a couple times on the phone and they asked what year it was but never once asked manuf date. Strange.

I would assume it SHOULD work on my 2009 Ram CTD, and I believe that others are using it..... so why would Edge not show it? Is it possible that the 2009 ECMs see this monitor as a tuner and are locking up? Thoughts? Any alternative monitor products like this?

Check build date of 09 truck first!!

Bought an Insight through Baker Diesel in Ogden UT and picked up from Edge on will-call today and before I could take it out of the box, the guy at Edge asked me what year my truck was and I told him an 09 and he said it won't work. We went outside and checked with a demo first to make sure and it said something about CAN-BUS not detected and to make sure it was plugged in and key on. The build date on mine is April of 09 and has the new ECM that locks up with a downloader. They also told me since they are switching to the CS and CTS that they are not going to even write an update for the Insight and the others will be available for 09+ sometime in early spring.

Dangit... ... my build date is Mar09..... how do we know if our ECM is the "new" version that locks up? Going forward then, our only option will be to wait for next year.



Anyone know of an alternative (monitor only) product like the Insight?

The guy that I talked to at Baker's called Bullydog tech support and made darn sure that theirs will work on 09 and they told him that it will, but I'm leaning toward getting a Quadzilla Scout. I'm going to call their tech support first and ask them if it will work before I get it on the way.

Forgot to mention in my last post that I first learned about the new ECM on Smarty's website. They had a link to a PDF directly from Chrysler and it had the build date listed on there and I think it said March or April. I had my hopes up for the Edge, but Im going to look at the others and make sure first. I'll post here when I get the Scout or Watchdog and let everyone know what I find out.

Just a quick update... ... I contacted Edge again and they confirmed the Mar-09 ECM build issues noted above. So it looks like even though I want the Insight monitor it isn't going to happen. So instead of getting a $300 monitor we're supposed to wait 6 months and buy the $600+ CS module... . yikes!



Anybody using a Quadzilla Scout on a late model 2009 CTD?

Well, I guess I'll be the "test mule". I just finished ordering the Scout and I'll let you guys know if it works with the new ECM. I don't see a reason why any of the monitors wouldn't since they read the same live data that's available on the reader I bought from Checker 3 years ago. I'm keeping my fingers crossed that it will work and hope I don't have to go for round 3 :-laf

If your build date is 4 Mar 09 or later than you have the secure bootloader. 09's before this date the Insight should work fine.
