I have been using the new K&N system for the past few months. I have about 1K to go before my change time (2wks) I'll analize then & post. The oil is Amsoil 5w-30 series 3000 & will have 10K on it. (I switch between the 15-40 summer & 5-30 winter)

Mad max,

Joe did a little dyno testing and found an extra 4HP I believe in the AFE. He said it made more HP than with the turbo wide open and no air cleaner at all. He seemed to think the AFE was shaping the air and helping out HP.

I currently run the K&N and am thinking about tryin the new AFE out.

NVR FNSH. I average 1K per wk (my Truck was 1yr old on 2/8/02, had 52,500 on it that day) + The company I work for allows me about $1300/month for my vehicle, So no, I don't find it expensive at all.

I got my AFE mega while I was at Piers. He had gotten it in for testing and I talked him out of it!!

Very high quality and the silvervein powdercoat matches my rear bumper and front transformer winch mount, so naturally I had to have it!!!!

I don't have engine mods, so don't have EGT issues. THE Only change I can identify is much more turbo whine. My wife can hear it better than I can, as I have some hearing loss in that freq. range from many hours behind aircraft engines.

Thx for the 411...

I'm curious to see how well either do in keeping Silica off the oil analysis results. W/ the next round of B. O. M. B. 'n, I'm going to have to do something.
