It seems that most of the sigs that I see of people using F1's are Mach 1. 6 or Mach 4. Any particular reason for the gap ?

I originally ran a set of 1. 5's. The 1. 6's weren't out yet. Now I have a set of 3. 8's. In theory they are supposed to be a little easier on egt's when towing. They run about as clean as my old 1. 5's.

I'm not 100% sure this is the reason... but my guess is people that tow heavy go with a 1. 6ish injector. They can pretty much tow without limitation. If you don't tow really heavy, there is not a single reason not to step up to the 4. I ran some 4's for a while before going bigger, and they are fantastic, clean as possible, great power, driveability etc. There just doesn't seem to be any benefit to a 3 for example. The 4 is as clean or cleaner, cooler egts and MORE POWER.

just my opinion,

Chris

I'm agree with Cris. The Mach 4's I have now are as clean or cleaner then the Mach 1. 5's I had before. I understand that the 1. 6's are cleaner yet. If you tow heavy with the stock turbo (and plan on staying with the stock turbo :D ) then I would go with the 1. 6's. If you plan on upgrading your turbo (even to a 35/40 hybrid), then go with the Mach 4's. You may have to watch your EGT's when towing. Bob Wagner made just over 400hp with the Catcher, Mach 4's, and a 35/40 hybrid. Great all around combo IMHO. If I had it to do over again I would go straight to Mach 4's. Of course I don't tow much...

I can give you a ride with the Comp box off, and you can see what kind of power you would be looking at. Of course I do have a little more air... . :-laf

I tow and went with mach 2's. That's definitely as high as I would go with the stock turbo at my altitude. I'm looking into a turbo now, feathering the throttle while climbing grades is getting old. Mach 4's are just too much fuel to tow safely with. Some can and will do it, but I sure wouldn't want that liability sitting in there, burning up pistons is pretty easy with all that fuel. I'm very satisfied with my mach 2's BTW.

I'm also quite satisfied with my 2's. I don't tow a lot, but even with 2's, if I WANT to, I can smoke out the entire road. Plenty of power for me at this point with my stock blower.

Which Mach series injector is comperable to a DD2. I have an older set of dd2's and wonder if there is a differance.

The DD2's are rated at 75 hp & the F1 mach 1. 6's are rated at 90 hp while the Mach 2's are rated at 105 hp. Most reports I've seen from people that have used both indicate the Mach series produce more power with less smoke egt's & better milage Than any honed injector of similar or even grater rating. You may well find that even a Mach 1 will perform as well as a DD2.

Where is a good place to go for the 1. 6's... $$$ wise?

I have to real careful now with the DD2's when the weather is warm and I am pulling heavy. The EGT will get up there real fast. I wonder if there is any real advantage to a swap. Overall I am quite happy with the DD's, but it could be I don't know what I'm missing.

The main reason you see the gap is due to the design of the injector..... As mentioned most guys who tow heavy and have a stock turbo go with the 1. 6's. If someone tows and chooses a good turbo upgrade then the mach 4's can be used with no problems.

Now for guy who don't tow..... Most want as much HP as they can get within the scope of their trucks mods. EGT's are one of the biggest problems we deal with when modifying. The Mach 4's due to the new design actually have lower egt's then the Mach 2-3's. This is one of the biggest reasons you see so many guys running them.

All dealers for Formula One charge the same price as required by F-1. PDW is a dealer for F-1 products if we can answer any questions please let me know.

I was in your shoes not to long ago. Just wanting an injector that would give me some extra HP without insane EGT issues. Well I ended up with the Mach4s and couldn't be happier. These things run so clean that I am sceptical about my pyro gauge... . :p . Granted I have not towed yet but the highest I have been able to get the pyro is 1200* once and this truck is far from being babied.

My stock turbo will be upgraded or replaced in the near future but for now I am just enjoying these sticks. With my HO motor I wanted to go big on the injectors and small on the timing boxes and so far the truck seems to like it.

The 1. 6s are a taste the 4s are the next logical step ;) , whoops I mean slip on the slope :-laf

If both are driven equally, what injector yields the best mileage I wonder?

I had DD2s once in my HO. They were fairly clean most of the year but over about 102-105 degrees they were about impossible to drive clean. We see 110 degrees once in a great while so I don't know if the Mach 4s would be too much. 1. 6s are probably better for hot desert climates.
