I found rotella synthetic at the local parts house for about twice the price of regular oil. Is anyone currently using it and is it worth the price ? What is the change interval and can it be used in cold weather. My truck sits for 48 plus hours while i'm at work and i worry about it draining off the upper end of the motor and then causing excessive wear during a cold start up.

I was using it for a while but then I was on the road and was a little low and couldnt find any at the flying Jso i had to go to a speedco and it cost me 32 bucks for a gallon. then when it came time for an oil change I coundt find any at wally world so I switched back to the dino oil. as far as the wear gos my dad uses the dino oil up in upstate NY neg. numbers all the time and hes had his start no problems at -10 and lower. just my . 02

I Have Had My Truck Since 98 And Have Always Used Rotella-t. I Change It Every 5000 Or So, I Live In N. e. Pa And It Gets Pretty Cold Here Sometimes, Neg Digits, I Drive A Jeep Back And Forth To Work And My Trucks Also Sits A Week Sometimes With Out Being Started, I Have 198000 Miles And So Far No Problems At All.

i run rotella 5-40 synthetic, just wsitched actually. Im in school in Maine and probabbly will not have a place to plug in. I really love it so far except for the price... Truck cranks over on cold days liek it is summer time. also have pressure much faster. i switched from regular shell rotella 15-40. . so the difference fo rme is like nite and day.

I get the Rotella 5W-40 synthetic at Walmart for $14 a gallon. That's such a great price for the synthetic stuff. It's great to use in the winter time when you can't plug in - engine starts right up and oil pressure comes up quick! I've used it for about 60,000 miles without issue - but then, without a teardown, how could one tell anyway? It meets diesel engine requirements, so I guess it's safe.

I know it's not truely synthetic, but I had a couple of jugs left over from the 04 so I bouth another to fill up the 97 for the winter. I'll probably do the same for the next winters. For the rest of the seasons I'll continue to use Delo 400.
