ATS Manifold Assembly problems

B D transmission Stuff

C Morrow

I have the B D Tourque Converter, Valve Body, Auto Lock, and Pressure Lock. I have about 30,000 miles on them and no problems. I pull a 34 foot 5 er that weighs 11500 empty.

hope this helps

I have all the BD add on stuff to. I'm mainly interested in people who have the complete transmission unit that BD sells. I keep hearing about the ATS triple lock TC and there transmission doesn't use a pressure lock to up the line pressures. They have 3 clutches on there TC verses BD's one. I had one of BD's early TC's disintegrate almost immediately and plug up my valve body while on a trip. I'm only running mild power enhancements. I'm trying to determine if BD is going to last. They only go 12 months verses ATS 36 month/100,000 mile warranty.

CMorrow,

Did BD do anything about the failed TC?

I have one of their earliest ones which has not given any trouble yet but I also have one of their valve bodies which I am not too happy with.

It shifts a lot harder than I like. I talked to them about that and was told to back out the screw a couple of turns. But I found there was no adjustment left. It was already as far as it could go without falling out.

I have tried to get help from them but not much success.

Quality of the product is usually reflected in how well the vendor stands behind it.

Which screw are you referring to? I'm not familiar with any adjustment on the valve body itself. If you have the pressure lock than you can shorten or lengthen the rod.

Did you modify your primeloc to sit in a diff location?

The only adjustment I have available to me is the pressure adjustment screw on the valve body itself but it is already backed out as far as it can go.

There is a transmission valve body installation manual on the BD web site you can download. It has information on pressure adjustment.

I've got the older valve body and no adjusting screw. As to an earlier question about my failed TC, BD did warrunty it out. They even had the VB changed out to insure that wasn't the culprit.

I am glad to hear they covered your loss. I have one of the earlier TC's and have had no trouble with it.

The valve body is also an early one and has worked fine. I just wish it wasn't quite so agressive.

I believe the one in the instruction manual is for the later 47RE transmissions.

Mine is the 47RH and it does have a pressure adjusting screw.

It is the same as the one in the picture that tells you to turn it to the left to increase pressure and to the right to reduce pressure.

It is hard to find with the VB installed but can be adjusted.
