Engine/Transmission (1998.5 - 2002) Anyone w/ trans from Standard in TX?

Has anyone bought a reman from Standard Transmission in TX. I know some guys have bought the upgrades from them, but for $1250 its just seems the more simple way to go is to just buy the reman with the upgrade done. TIA, Karl

I have not bought anything from them, but if you are going to stick with the 4500, by all means get the upgraded mainshaft along with it. You might want to check out Quad 4X4, he has a new "Torque King" mainshaft/5th gear assembly that looks really promising, so much I might just drop the idea of the 6-speed conversion idea for my truck and install that in my 4500. No 5th gear problems so far, but I'm not going to wait till it breaks to fix it right!

I've purchased many parts from Standard trans including a reman NV4500 I put in my friends 92 as a conversion project. It's been towing strong for 30k miles now, no problems. If you're mechanical don't be afraind of this trans, they're really pretty simple.
