Brand new 04 Single CD/Cassette/Changer controller. Was special ordered in the truck for the original orderer. . my bad luck. I'd prefer the 6-disc unit. Want to trade for mine plus $?

Thanks!

Umm why LOL?

Seems a legit possibility, some folks like tapes. I figure a trade of mine and $100 for someone's unused or underused 6-disc would be OK.

How much $$ - $100? I have the 6 disc changer in my truck. I've had 5 CDs over the last 4 years in my other trucks single CD player. 3 of those were my son's.

I'd have to think about it.

oh yeah, just need to make sure yours is equipped with the provision for the steering wheel controls, I think it probably is, but let me know!

I believe these stereos may have to be set up with some help from the dealer's computer. I think they have different sound stage settings for different vehicle and speaker configurations. The 6 disc changer may have come as part of the laramie package which has more speakers than the standard 4 speaker radio. Not saying the swap won't work, but it might have to be configured with their computer to sound right.

Hey I would also be interested in doing a swap as well if someone has an extra after Elind finds his. Or if anyone has the nav radio I would interested in one of them.

I have the 1 disc/cassette radio w changer controls

Hey DPelletier.

I know there is two 6 1/2's in the front doors and two 5 1/4's in the rear doors and 2 tweeder's in the dash but where is the 7th speaker located and what is it.

Thanks, Brad

I just ordered a 6 disk changer for mine that works with the steering wheel controls from Crutchfield for about $300. I'll still have the in dash CD and tape player. I mounted the changer under the drivers seat. I'll wire it up this weekend. Wiring looks really straight forward.

This is NOT an FM modulator style. It is hardwired to the factory head unit.

100 Proof

Brad,

Sorry, I dunno! I'll take a look and see if I can find the missing speaker. Literature I have actually says 11 speakers in 7 locations (i. e. the four door mounted speakers are coaxial) Maybe we have a woofer somewhere, like the one in my wife's TJ (center console)

All J1850 radios (for Chrysler-built vehicles) support the steering wheel controls. The only ones that don't are the MMC-built cars; the Sebring and Stratus coupes.

Nope. Plug-n-play.

They do, but it's loaded automatically. Every radio sold to Chrysler has the entire set of EQ curves for the whole vehicle line stored in ROM. When you turn the key on, the radio queries the body controller for the platform code. Once the body controller responds with the platform code, the radio will load the proper EQ curve set into memory. The upshot is that you could take the radio out of your Ram and toss it in a Neon, and when it powers up it'll load the Neon's curve set.

there should be a small 2" center fill speaker on the top of the dash.
