Anyone with DT dual shock mount and Links?

Has anyone been able to use the DT Dual shock mount, if so How? The ones I just received won't work. The holes don't line up, the top hole is not big enough, It won't mount flush because there is a brake line bracket in the way? And right where the shock is suppose to go is the metal curved part of the brake line? I realize this is an easy install but there is no instructions so maybe I'm mounting them in the wrong spot. Anyone have pictures or help on this... ... . Also My DT links would not work either the sleeves are the wrong size for the bolts. DT is suppose to send the right sleeves but when I attempt to call back I just get a message machine, and I'm tired of leaving messages. .

Mediccummin - I don't have the DT Dual shock mount but it is almost exactly like the skyjacker product and here's the scoop.



In the Skyjacker directions they say thet on some 2001 models (like ours ) The brakeline will have to be bent for the line to clear the shock. I bent my line towards the inside of the control arm/spring and it clears by about 1/2 an inch. The Brake line passes in between the dt lower shock mount and the shock. It seems close but the shock won't move that much as to hit it. I haven't had it hit yet.



I didn't really feel comfortable bending my brake lines but it worked fine.

I can vouch for Mactruck's statement. My brake lines wouldn't fit with the dual Skyjacker front shock mounting brackets either. I wasn't anywhere near brave enough to try bending my brake lines, so I just used several zip ties to hold mine on. Been that way for 14 months, including a little off roading, and no problems yet

Thanks for the input. Well Dt has not returned my calls about these brackets in 3 days so I guess I will cut them up and grind off the brake mount. Also re drill the holes in the right spot and right size. I will make them work. After closer look i figured with the SKJ or DT you would have to do a little brake line mods anyway. I also have to do the top bolts longer to reach like Nblack said. Thanks Nblack for the pics... ... ... TDR is the best...

I believe the directions also state that the hole may need to be opened (drilled out) a little to allow for the bolt to pass through.

UPDATE

There is no way they will work. I just attempted to figure out a way to use these things and there is no way without cutting them up and re welding the whole lower bracket. They are not the same shape as the Skyjacker, the base that mounts up against the truck is a lot larger and cut at funny angles, if you look at the web site you will see what I mean. If the hole were to be re drilled in the proper spots and sizes the mount hits the curve in the forward part of the mount area which throws them off at a funny angle. Even if it did fit the shock would be at a angle also. I even tried them upside down, in this case you would have to cut off the brake mount and move it somewhere else. Then the shock is also at a funny angle. They do not I repeat do not just bolt up there. DT still has not called me back maybe they are on vacation or something but even so I'll will send these back and hope to get a refund... ... ..... Later.



Once again these are not the same as the skyjacker different design and shape. And if anyone has used these DT or no of someone who has let me know..... Thanks

One More Try

OK just because I never give up I tried again. With the help of other members I attempted every bit of input I was given. I got the lower plates mounted but you can't turn full lock or the tire will hit the shock and the bracket itself will hit the caliper. I bent the brake line all different ways. If it travel behind the shock it get to tight at 1/2 turn and will come apart. If i bend to go behind the shock it hits the tire just before the mount hits the tire. And in any position the brake line coming out of the caliper passes through right where the shock is suppose to be. These appear to be back a little further than the SKJ ones and maybe they stick out a little far. Here is a picture of one of the positions I tried. You can see the hard brake line out of the caliper passes through the bracket and the other end hits the tire. If I were to hit full lock the bracket hits the caliper itself. I even tried this with the shock upside down . Also the brake line bracket (the gold piece) is mounted with a spacer approx 1" away from the welded brake line mounting bracket, I had to do this because the the shock bracket extends back passed where the line was originally mounted...

Dave called me today and was unaware of the problem he built these for earlier model trucks (99) and did not realize there would be a difference. He said just to return them. Not sure where the difference would be but it is obvious they would not work. Also on the links the bolt size on a 2001 are bigger than a 1999 that is why I got the wrong size sleeves. He is making new ones the right size for my truck... . So problem solved return and order some other brand and hope they will work.
