Well Im curious to see if I just got a monday or a friday truck?? Had my mega cab less than a year and its been to the dealer 5 times already for repair. The most recent... recirc door broke off... then back again for a coolant leak which turned out to be a heater hose at the block... now its back again for a transmission leak. And for some reason the trans shifts horrible and then the dealer flashes the computer, works fine for a few months then back to shifting bad again. I don't know what to think about the whole deal.....

The hose leak was a loose clamp. Common.

H. V. A. C. door is also a common issue.

It would help if you could explain the trans issue your having `VS` horrible.

It`s a production veh. and sometimes little issue`s can be annoying, but at least it`s not like owning another brand that has bigger issue`s...

My build date is Friday Oct 28,2005. Outside of the P0191 code (got flashed), the 2 recalls (tank vent and ABS), and the white smoke flash, my truck has been flawless. I only have 11K on it now, but it is running perfectly and everything works as it should. No complaints here.

I checked all my hose clamps at around 1K and found a couple that needed tightening, all new hoses need that due to expansion and contraction, just a normal thing to me. I guess I am fortunate not to have the HVAC door problems as many have had. I have a standard transmission so I cannot comment on the auto transmission. All new vehicles can have a few nagging/annoying things, goes with the territory of assembly line stuff. Like DrDiesel says - "at least it's not like owning another brand that has bigger issues... "

Better to be haunted with a few little things than the big stuff. I am very happy with my truck, good strong running truck, nice and comfortable to drive, works and plays hard. If you were to ask the guy in the Duramax that I blew off the road last night he would tell you it doesn't play well with others.

ArmstrongB, I sympathize with you on the quality of these trucks. With more bean counting going on during this period in time, I feel like these trucks are going through the assembly line with less people who are asked to do more for the same pay. I've had several issues with my 05. At 15K I had an injector pump leaking. Had it replaced. Door seals (common problem) torn. The paint is inferior and thin. The white primer doesn't help at all. When i get a scratch or rock chip, it shows up white. Truck has rough idle and white smoke. Dealer reflashed. MPG was horrible. Took it in again for a reflash. Rough idle again, reflashed. Drivers side door seems loose, it creeks against the seal when it vibrates. Inside seal started to squeek. Dealer replaced seal. Now I'm at 45k and anytime the truck deviates from a level attitude, the front suspension creeks.

Now comparatively, dodge is the best of the three evils but if Toyota comes out with a comparable diesel, I think I'll be jumping the DC ship. Thats just me though.

Yeah the way I look at it. The problems might be common, but its still a $54,000 truck. My 1990 Geo that I drive and leave at work ive had 15 months and all Ive done is add gas and change oil. And yes its in great shape for a 90 and nothing is needing repair or leaking. Anyway as far as the transmission goes it just cant seem to pick a gear when your driving light... . Towing something it shifts fine. Even the guy from the dealer went with me on a drive and even he said it doesn't feel right. So for now it gets another re-flash and hope it gets better.
