Ok so I have the RB1 Nav, I have U-Connect (which a lot of folks said could not be done) and now I want to add a PIE adapter for XM Direct and or 6 disc changer so the question is has anyone had all of these together and made it work???

Thanks

I know that you asked specifically about XM, but I have RB1 Nav, SIRIUS and factory installed U-Connect . . . and yep, it all works as designed! No complaints here. Oo. Oo. Oo.

I could be wrong but I'm not sure you can get that to work MCrossley. I know there is an adapter that's used on the Sirius/Mopar kit to allow both Sirius and a CD changer or Uconnect on the RB1 by the looks of RockinJ's setup but the PIE adapter uses the 10 pin port that the existing Uconnect plugs into. Most of the aftermarket interfaces will tell you that you cannot use Uconnect or your existing external CD changer if you have one since they use the same port on the back of the radio. Some food for thought anyhow...

you are correct, however the pie adapter has a pass through port according to the manufacture; i will know later today when it arrives and will let you know...

Well the good, the bad, and the ugly

So it DOES have the passthrough port, XM DOES work, it DOES see the U-Connect, but IT DOES NOT pass the U-Connect Audio correctly? The U-Connect can hear me, it will dial as it should, I had is call my other phone and the microphone is working as I can hear the stereo but it does not mute the XM and you cannot hear the U-Connect, It does change the XM over the right side when the U-Connect is active it is just like it is not passing the audio across like it should... ANy thoughts before I sell this to someone who does not have the U-Connect? Oh and by the way it does show all of the information correctly on the RB1 such as music title and channel etc... . :{

so here is the updat eafter disasembling the adapter and getting on dealerconnect to get the wiring pinout of the cd changer port I have the U-Connect talking, only problem is that the XM will not shut up! So more tinkering to come and see if I can either burn this thing up or make it work...

SDAR and PCI Bus???

Does anyone know why you want to put the SDAR bus and the PCI bus on the sam eline, On the terk cable they have a jumper that ties the PCI and SDAR Bus together so I am wondering if this might be the problem... Any help would be appreciated.

I'm curious, I thought the RB1 would not work with UConnect. I bought a RB4 for that reason, the 4 says it is compatible. But the 1's graphics look better. I'm thinking about getting the Mopar UConnect, will that work with the radio like the manual says or is it a stand alone unit with it's own speakers, etc?

well I was told the same thing and all that believe are those who are unwilling to take on a challenge... Anyhow it works fine with the RB1 I am just having a little challenge getting the XM and the U-connect to get along with eachother...

If I remember correctly the SDAR bus is the one that carries the "ARTIST-TITLE" information from the SIRIUS tuner as I didn't have "ARTIST-TITLE" till I got an updated cable installed between the mux/splitter and the RB1 and that was the signal wire added.

you are correct the SDAR bus is the the satelite radio bus, just trying to figure out why they would connect this bus with the PCI bus... I am going to hard wire the connection after the u-connect and see if it works any better.

Please explain as I don't understand

Do you mean the the RBI Nav and the U-Connect are not suppossed to be compatable? I think I have the RB1, how do you tell which nav you have

Thanks Bill

The RB1 is the nav unit that has full mapping capability with the DVD the RB4 (factory option) has 2 cd's and has turn indicators without the mapping. Supposedly the RB1 is not compatible with U-Connect however this has proven not to be true.

I am getting a little confused. Does anyone have factory Uconnect and an auxillary input adapter working correctly? Better yet, does anyone have factory Uconnect and a Mopar CD changer or Sirius that can tell me if they plug into the Uconnect box inside the dash on the passenger side? I bought a supposedly compatable aux. input adapter from Crutchfield and then found out the Uconnect uses the changer input. A little more checking revealed an identical input on the Uconnect box, but the adapter didn't work there either. I also don't know if it matters that the bus line position in the connector for the aux. input adapter is not used. I can't tell if I have a bad adapter, an incompatible adapter, or what. Anyone tried the new Terk XM systems? I heard they were going to sell the adapters from those kits separately from the rest of the XM kit.

I am using the XM Direct form Terk, you do not have a defective unti these things do not work correctly with the u-connect, I tried it on the stereo where the u-connect plugs into the terk and the terk into the radio the xm works fine but the u-coonect has no audio, so then i decided to jumper the audio inputs and outputs and I had u-cooncect talking but then the audio was not as good and the xm would not shut up while u-coonect was talking so I decided to shop up the xm cable and hard wired it under the passengers kick panel where all of the lines come out for the sirus cable would be and I have the great audio a nice place to put the boxes but the xm still does not shut up so I installed a switch that I flip when u-coonect is active that kills the XM it works fine, not quite what I was hoping for in the way of seamless but at least it works and sounds great. I will make a circuit at some point that will do this automatically but not now.
